I live in what used to be the attic of a Victorian home built in the late 1800’s. It's now a bright, spacious 1,400 sf condo. There are both modern updates and some original features, including a few windows with the original lead glass panes.
The space
This is my residence and I have spent the last 15 years updating and ensuring the space is comfortable.
The condo is fully furnished and can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably. - The master bedroom has a queen bed, the guest room has a double bed.
- The living room is large, with my home office taking up the small turret space
- The condo has a smart tv and WIFI (I work from home so need fast & reliable WIFI).
- The kitchen includes dishwasher, microwave, espresso machine, toaster and an electric kettle plus many other kitchen appliances/utensils as I am an avid cook
-The dining room table can seat up to 8 people easily.
-There is one bathroom, which has radiant floor heating. The unit has its own tankless hot water heater so you don’t have to worry about running out of hot water.
-There is a washer/dryer in the unit.
- I have a private deck off the kitchen with a gas grill and guests have use of the shared back yard.
Guest access
My condo is on the top floor so there are three flights of stairs and no elevator. Children are welcome but I do not have any items designed for a baby (crib, high chair, etc) so my place is probably not good for babies. Guests with bikes or strollers can use my storage space in the garage to avoid hauling items up to the condo.
Notes
As a good neighbor with the other units in my old house, I am only looking to exchange my home for no longer than one week at a time.
San Francisco is full of culture, beauty, nature, and unique citizens. It's easy to get to all the attractions from my condo, and even nicer at the end of the day when you can quickly get back to the condo to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

Neighbourhood
Ideally located in the center of San Francisco my condo is one house away from the famous “Painted Ladies” homes and Alamo Square, which many will recognize from movies filmed in San Francisco. My condo is located on a hill so has views, but not the steepest of hills in the city, so walkers won’t be out of breath walking. Alamo Square provides beautiful views of downtown, the Bay Bridge and East Bay.
You often hear and see the Parrots of Telegraph Hill flying by the house.
There are world-class restaurants within 3-8 blocks in all directions, a 10-minute walk and shopping in the popular Hayes Valley. For emergency purchases, there is a small corner store at end of block. Specialty grocery stores within 5-6 blocks. Safeway and Whole Foods within a 20-minute walk.
Getting to my home
The easiest way to get to my home is by Uber or public transportation. I don't recommend a car as parking is very difficult.
Nearest airport
San Francisco International Airport is 25-40 minutes by car (depending on traffic) or about an hour if you take BART from the airport to downtown San Francisco and then either Uber or catch a bus up to my place.
Getting around
San Francisco is a very walkable city with excellent public transportation, and my condo is centrally located within in the city. There is no need for a car - and trying to drive/park in San Francisco is a hassle. You have all the delivery apps, Uber, Lyft and other shared transportation apps at your fingertips to take you anywhere you want to go, or deliver anything you want delivered.
Walk Score (www.walkscore.com):
Walk Score: 97 – Walker’s Paradise - Daily errands do not require a car.
Transit Score: 76 – Excellent Transit – Transit is convenient for most trips.
Bike Score: 76 – Very Bikeable – Biking is convenient for most trips
Public Transportation:
The #21 bus stop just outside door that heads to City Hall to the east (and easy to walk downtown from there) and to Golden Gate Park going west.
The #22 bus line is one block away and runs from the bay (north) to south end of city.
I have one bike available and there are also bike-for-hire stands nearby. There are interesting walking trails all over San Francisco.
Outside the city:
There is quick freeway access to 101 and I-80 and San Francisco International Airport is 25-40 minutes depending on traffic. It’s easy to get to the Golden Gate Bridge to access the Marin Headlands, Sausalito, Muir Woods and the wine country (Sonoma and Napa).
Car Share Services: Getaround, Zipcar, RelayRides, City CarShare all close and available.

Happy to provide suggestions on spending time in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. Would enjoy meeting for coffee or a glass of wine if available.

Single (close to semi-retirement) woman excited to meet new friends and explore more of the world. I'm looking for opportunities to visit in one location from 2 weeks-2 months either within the US or globally. I do not need to do a simultaneous exchange. I prefer areas with a high walkability factor and will need strong and reliable wifi to work. Although I'm also open to locations where I can get away from work and just relax on occasion.
Additionally, I have recently added my second home that I share with my sister, that is located on the California Central Coast. That home is great for hospitality stays in one part of the downstairs, or more ideally, the entire home with three lovely cats that need a sitter when my sister travels with me.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
