Neighbourhood

Nipomo is a small farming community located on the California Central Coast. If you’re familiar with the Great Depression era photographer Dorthea Lange, her famous photo of “Migrant Mother” was taken in Nipomo. It is approximately half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It’s 70 miles north of Santa Barbara, 12 miles south of Pismo Beach and 24 miles south of San Luis Obispo. Close by beaches in addition to Pismo Beach are Oceano Dunes Natural Preserve State Park, Avilla Beach, Shell Beach, Grover Beach and Morro Bay to the north. To the south are Rando Guadalupe Dunes Preserve, Paradise Beach and Brown Beach. Just north of Nipomo is the charming village of Arroyo Grande. Vandenburgh Space Center is 27 miles to the south and fabulous wine regions of Santa Ynez, Santa Rita Hills and Edna Valley are all within a 30-40 minute drive.

Nearest airport

San Luis Obispo is about 25-30 minutes away. LAX (Los Angeles) is 170 miles to the south, San Jose International airport is 212 miles to the north and SFO (San Francisco) is 244 miles. San Luis Obispo is the easiest airport to fly into.

Getting Around

Within Monarch Dunes you can walk up to the clubhouse, gym, pool, sauna/hot tub, restaurant, spa and golf course. But you will need a car to get to most places. There is a grocery store and restaurants within a 10-minute drive of the house.
