Neighbourhood
According to the Rough Guide of Finland: "This little-known country on the very edge of Europe is truly one of the continent's best-kept secrets. Finland is without a doubt the most welcoming of all of the Scandinavian countries."
Our home is located 20 km from Turku, the former capital of Finland. We live in the countryside, in a very quiet and peaceful location and about 7 km from the Baltic Sea. There are forest walking paths in the area and two popular golf courses nearby.
The main historical and cultural attractions of the area are in Turku, the former capital of Finland. These include for example Turku Castle, The Cathedral and several museums.
The most popular children's attraction, Moominworld in Naantali, is about 10 km from our house (usually open from mid-June to mid-August and the winter holiday week in February). Naantali Spa is a little closer.
From Turku you can also take a ferry to Stockholm or a cruise to see the beautiful archipelago of the Åland Islands.
It is about 2 hrs drive to Helsinki from our house or about two hours by train from Turku to Helsinki. Turku airport and ferry terminal are about 30 mins drive from Masku.
A very good site about travelling in Finland is www.visitfinland.com if you need to know more about our beautiful country.
Getting around
A car is essential, public transport is not very good. We can exchange cars.
Nearest supermarket is 7 kms away, big shopping center 13 kms and the centre of Turku 20 kms/20 mins.
