General overview
Two-story family friendly house with a large backyard. Close to historic Stony Brook and Port Jefferson villages, ocean beaches (15 min to Long Island sound beaches, 40 min to Atlantic ocean beaches), historic mansions and arboretums (40-50 min) and many other attractions. Walking distance to a hiking/biking trail (the Greenway) and Olde Towne Gardens. 90 min to New York city by car.
The space
The first floor has the kitchen, the living room with a sofa-sleeper and a half-bathroom. The second floor has three bedrooms: with a queen bed, a sleeper-sofa (with an orthopaedic mattress), and a tween bed; and a full bathroom. In the backyard, we have a small sitting area, playground, sandbox, hammock, firepit, charcoal BBQ, and a ping-pong table (folded away during cold months).
Guest access
Two floors both have a staircase access; a few steps lead into the house and from the house to the backyard.
Notes
We have a very friendly indoor kitten, Frosya, who needs to be fed and pet daily :)
Note, two long-term tenants live in a separate part of the house with their own private entrances and separate parking spots.

Neighbourhood
A car is needed to access points of interest, except for the Greenway walking/biking trail and Olde Towne Gardens (a picturesque tree nursery) that are ~7 min away on foot. Supermarkets and Stony Brook hospital/emergency room are 10-15 min away by car, 24/7 CVS pharmacy and a small convenience store (Seven Eleven) are 5 min away.
Stony Brook University and the historic Stony Brook village are 10-15 min away, including restaurants, cafes, gift shops, as well as the Carriage museum (boasting a unique collection of carriages), operating Grist Mill (c. 1751), Avalon park and preserve, kayak and paddleboat rentals, the Wetlands Duscovery cruise etc.
Port Jefferson, a charming beach-front village and home to the Port Jeff - Bridgeport (Connecticut) ferry, is 15 min away. It offers numerous fine dining optios, gift shops, an award winning dog-friendly Craft Brewery, live music in the summer, an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter, and kids' year-round favorite playground Rocketship Park.
Long Island sound beaches, e.g., our favorite West Meadow and Cedar beaches, are 15-20 min away. West Meadow has a 2.6 mile/4 km in-and-out scenic walking path. During low tide, a row of sand bars open up that children love to explore (think hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs etc.). Cedar beach is fancied by more experienced swimmers. It features a relaxing boardwalk and a fishermen's pier, a waterfront restaurant/bar with live music in the summer, and amazing sunsets.
The Atlantic ocean beaches are 40 min away. The Robert Moses beach offers a 2 mile roundtrip scenic boardwalk with wildlife that leads to the famous Fire Island lighthouse.
The Great Gatsby era (aka the Jazz era) mansions are 40-50 min away. Some of them are the Vanderbilt Museum/Planetarium, Old Westbury Gardens (home to the renowned "Rise of Jack-o-Lanterns" attraction in October), and the Cutting Fields Arboretum/Coe's hall.
The Riverhead Aquarium (40 min away) features live animal shows, the Butterfly House, and is a home base for whale-watching tours.
The North Fork wineries and farms and a 96 acre water park, Splish Splash, are also near Riverhead.
The White Post Farms (40 min) offers full-day fun for the whole family. You get to feed baby goats, see zebras and giraffes closer than in any zoo (including baby giraffe Savannah born in 2022), ride ponies, feed birds from your hand inside a unique free-flight aviary, and more!
The Adventure Park (40 min away) has 49 ziplines, 14 treetop trails, the little kids' zone, teenagers' favorite twilight adventures etc.
The Montauk point (the Eastern-most end of Long Island), its surrounding parks and hiking trails, and the Montauk lighthouse (with public access), are 90 min away.
New York City is 90 min away by car without traffic or 1 hr 50 min by train.
Getting to my home
The closest airports are JFK, Laguardia and Newark, as well as the local McArthur airport. You can take Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Stony Brook station + short Uber ride (8 min, $15) to get to our house or use a rental car or one of our cars if agreed upon.
Nearest airport
JFK, LGA are 1 hour away by car, Newark is 2 hrs away, McArthur is 30 min away.
Getting around
A car is needed to get around. We can provide our Nissan Rogue for a mutual exchange.

Evguenia
We are a family of five: two adults and three kids ages 5, 17, 20. Evguenia does biomedical research at Stony Brook University, Andrei does home remodelling, kids are in college/school/daycare. We love traveling to both, nature and city destinations all over the world, hiking, camping, mountain skiing, and having a good time with friends.
