Two-story family friendly house with a large backyard. Close to historic Stony Brook and Port Jefferson villages, ocean beaches (15 min to Long Island sound beaches, 40 min to Atlantic ocean beaches), historic mansions and arboretums (40-50 min) and many other attractions. Walking distance to a hiking/biking trail (the Greenway) and Olde Towne Gardens. 90 min to New York city by car.
The space
The first floor has the kitchen, the living room with a sofa-sleeper and a half-bathroom. The second floor has three bedrooms: with a queen bed, a sleeper-sofa (with an orthopaedic mattress), and a tween bed; and a full bathroom. In the backyard, we have a small sitting area, playground, sandbox, hammock, firepit, charcoal BBQ, and a ping-pong table (folded away during cold months).
Guest access
Two floors both have a staircase access; a few steps lead into the house and from the house to the backyard.
Notes
We have a very friendly indoor kitten, Frosya, who needs to be fed and pet daily :)
Note, two long-term tenants live in a separate part of the house with their own private entrances and separate parking spots.

Neighbourhood
A car is needed to access points of interest, except for the Greenway walking/biking trail and Olde Towne Gardens (a picturesque tree nursery) that are ~7 min away on foot. Supermarkets and Stony Brook hospital/emergency room are 10-15 min away by car, 24/7 CVS pharmacy and a small convenience store (Seven Eleven) are 5 min away.
Stony Brook University and the historic Stony Brook village are 10-15 min away, including restaurants, cafes, gift shops, as well as the Carriage museum (boasting a unique collection of carriages), operating Grist Mill (c. 1751), Avalon park and preserve, kayak and paddleboat rentals, the Wetlands Duscovery cruise etc.
Port Jefferson, a charming beach-front village and home to the Port Jeff - Bridgeport (Connecticut) ferry, is 15 min away. It offers numerous fine dining optios, gift shops, an award winning dog-friendly Craft Brewery, live music in the summer, an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter, and kids' year-round favorite playground Rocketship Park.
Long Island sound beaches, e.g., our favorite West Meadow and Cedar beaches, are 15-20 min away. West Meadow has a 2.6 mile/4 km in-and-out scenic walking path. During low tide, a row of sand bars open up that children love to explore (think hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs etc.). Cedar beach is fancied by more experienced swimmers. It features a relaxing boardwalk and a fishermen's pier, a waterfront restaurant/bar with live music in the summer, and amazing sunsets.
The Atlantic ocean beaches are 40 min away. The Robert Moses beach offers a 2 mile roundtrip scenic boardwalk with wildlife that leads to the famous Fire Island lighthouse.
The Great Gatsby era (aka the Jazz era) mansions are 40-50 min away. Some of them are the Vanderbilt Museum/Planetarium, Old Westbury Gardens (home to the renowned "Rise of Jack-o-Lanterns" attraction in October), and the Cutting Fields Arboretum/Coe's hall.
The Riverhead Aquarium (40 min away) features live animal shows, the Butterfly House, and is a home base for whale-watching tours.
The North Fork wineries and farms and a 96 acre water park, Splish Splash, are also near Riverhead.
The White Post Farms (40 min) offers full-day fun for the whole family. You get to feed baby goats, see zebras and giraffes closer than in any zoo (including baby giraffe Savannah born in 2022), ride ponies, feed birds from your hand inside a unique free-flight aviary, and more!
The Adventure Park (40 min away) has 49 ziplines, 14 treetop trails, the little kids' zone, teenagers' favorite twilight adventures etc.
The Montauk point (the Eastern-most end of Long Island), its surrounding parks and hiking trails, and the Montauk lighthouse (with public access), are 90 min away.
New York City is 90 min away by car without traffic or 1 hr 50 min by train.
Getting to my home
The closest airports are JFK, Laguardia and Newark, as well as the local McArthur airport. You can take Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Stony Brook station + short Uber ride (8 min, $15) to get to our house or use a rental car or one of our cars if agreed upon.

People Like Us Local Guide
I am happy to advise guests about local attractions and points of interest.
We lived in upstate New York for many years and had never visited long island. We were glad to be able to exchange with Evguenia and explore Long Island. From her home, we were able to make day trips to the Hamptons on the east, the amazing Cedar Beach on the south, and the Vanderbilt Museum on the West. We also made two day trips to NYC to enjoy the MET, the Guggenheim, Summit One Vanderbilt, and to enjoy a Broadway show. The home itself had a great backyard and was clean. We had everything we needed to cook some meals in the kitchen.
We exchanged vehicles and arranged with each other to picked up vehicles at our respective airports so we saved a lot on Uber costs. Evguenia added parking permits to the vehicle that we were driving so we could park at beaches without paying a parking fee. Overall, it was successful exchange.
Evigenia's home is perfectly located to everything this area has to offer. Frosya the cat is absolutely beautiful and so sweet. She was very easy to care for. My husband and I were their second guests.
We did encounter a couple of oversights that were worth sharing, so we did so privately with Evguenia. She was very receptive and we feel very comfortable that future guests will enjoy their experience here. Her communication from the initial message was helpful, timely and very informative. From our chats and seeing family photos, etc it is clear that they are wonderful people.
We enjoyed a lot our short stay at Evguenia's house. It is well situated to discover the beautiful beaches and attractions of Long Island, and we could spend a day in New York. The house is comfortable, clean, and we had everything we needed, and Frosya the adorable cat was always so happy to see us each time we were back home :)
The simultaneous exchange was decided at last minute, but communication was easy and everything went well.
I hope we'll have an opportunity to go back during summer!
We had good communications with Evguenia. A lot of coordination was needed to enable picking up the vehicles at the airports so good communications really helped. Upon returning to our home, we found our home as tidy as when we left it.
Evguenia and her family stayed few days at our little apartment, and left it very clean. The simultaneous exchange was decided at last minute but communication was easy and friendly, so everything went perfectly and we enjoyed the presents they left for us and our foster kittens.
We had an awesome time in Ping and Jeff's home. The location is perfect to visit points of interest to the West (Mt. Evans, Georgetown), North (Rocky Mountains NP, Red Rocks Amphitheater), South (Colorado Springs), and Denver itself. Our 5 y.o. daughter really enjoyed the Pirate's Cove water park 15 min. from the house. The house is gorgeous and very spacious, super clean. We also successfully exchanged the cars. Ping was thoughtful to set up a cot for our daughter in the master bedroom, and she loved it! Communication was smooth and prompt before and during the exchage. We highly recommend this home to future exchangers.
Ping, Jeff and their son were great guests to have. They took good care of our cat and left our house and our exchange car in impeccable condition. Highly recommend them.
Donna and Scott were great guests to have. They left our house clean and took good care of our cat, Frosya. All communication was smooth before and during the exchange. We recommend them as guests to anyone.
Marina's apartment is very nice and cozy, super clean, has everything we needed for our small family vacation in Montreal. A lot of unique, artistic touches throught the apartment, and our 5 y.o. daughter really apprecated the "treasure chest" that kept her busy :) Great communication with Marina and Philippe. He was even kind enough to leave us a meal and home-made wine. Thank you both!! We had a wonderful time and even got to enjoy some snow :)
Marina and Philippe are very friendly, we had a great communication prepping for the exchange. They were wonderful guests, left our home super clean and took superb care of our kitty, who seemed content and happy upon our arrival. Would love to host you guys again, summer is the best here :)
