General overview
Large apartment, bright, warm. Perched in the branches of a tree, in an urban neighborhood where everything is done on foot. Grocery store, butcher, market, restaurants and parks nearby. A beautiful cat lives there, lounging in the yard or on the balcony; Brownie by his first name, he is very active and spends the night outside chasing mice and then comes to sleep during the day in an armchair or a corner of the bed. He will be your host during your stay.
The space
The kitchen, dining room and living room overlook the back of the house, and the large master double bedroom and the offices to the front. The second office can be converted into a bedroom, if required. All rooms have a window so it is very bright throughout the day. We have a front balcony that is surrounded by the branches of our beautiful silver maple; behind, the balcony is smaller and in full sun. An almost century-old apartment is not completely soundproofed, which is why we do not allow late parties, out of respect for our neighbors. On the other hand, it is not forbidden, of course, to listen to music! On the contrary. :-)
Guest access
We live in a quadruplex whose ground floor is inhabited by Marie-Josée's brother. We are on the third floor (ground floor, 2nd then 3rd in Quebec) of a heritage building, so there is no elevator.
Notes
Brownie can spend 2 days alone, otherwise he is fed once a day and must be able to go outside regularly when he wishes. He is affectionate and very playful.

Neighbourhood
Hochelaga is an eclectic, family neighborhood. There are several heritage buildings, the magnificent Botanical Garden (Space for Life, Biodôme, Insectarium, Planetarium, Olympic Stadium and Saputo-soccer Stadium). All shopping can be done on foot or by bike (we have two bikes available): the Maisonneuve Market where you can find fish, fruit, cheese, bakery and bulk nuts and fruits. But on nearby Ontario Street, other businesses also offer everything you need for everyday life. Bookstore, restaurants, cafes, bars, pharmacy, etc.
Getting to my home
From the airport, the taxi is the best way, the fastest. But the 747 bus leaves the airport to go to the Lionel-Groulx metro station. From there take the metro towards Honoré-Beaugrand (green line) and get off at Pie-IX station. A bus (439,139) will leave you at the corner of Pie-IX and Ste-Catherine where the house is 3 blocks away on foot. ADAM street, the previous stop, is much more beautiful but a block further.
Nearest airport
Montreal-Trudeau. 30 minutes by car. 1 hour by public transport.
Getting around
We are in the center-east of the city of Montreal, in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. There are 2 metro stations within 15 minutes walk or 1 station by bus, the stop at the corner of the street. Everything is done on foot for shopping, restaurants etc. in the neighborhood. 20 minutes from downtown by public transport. There are beautiful bike paths nearby to go everywhere in the city and a BIXI bike-sharing service.

We are lovers of relaxed travel and allowing us to live the places and habits of people, rather than globetrotters who count the number of cities visited. We are passionate workers and therefore need to take a vacation. Culture, history, gastronomy are so many reasons to meet others. I am an artist and I work in politics, my lover is a historian and works in labor law. We are currently looking for a house in Scotland where we are taking our goddaughter for her first trip to Europe.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
