General overview
Our home is located in a quiet cul de sac - yet it is only a short walk to world class restaurants, parks, and shops, or a 5-10 minute drive (or bus ride) to the best beaches or the start of various mountain trails. All the bedrooms have fantastic views of Table Mountain and/or Lions Head. While the house (and some of its fittings) are straight out of the 80s - it's location is unbeatable.
The space
Our house is a double storey, attached townhouse - so we share party walls with neighbours on both sides. We have a north facing front garden - with a walkway and grass lawn (currently home to a large trampoline) and a south facing back courtyard. The courtyard is paved and has a big braai (barbeque) and outdoor table and benches that seat 10. At the back of the property is a double garage accesable via a secure gate and private road.
The ground floor contains the living space, dining space and kitchen - all open plan, and a small guest WC. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The Main Bedroom faces north and has an en suite bathroom (with a bath). It is a large room, including study nook/desk space and a King (extra length) bed. It's windows looks out onto Lion's Head.
Bedroom 2 and 3 faces South and looks onto Table Mountain. Bedroom 2 is our kids room and contains a triple bunk (Double at the bottom and single on top). Bedroom 3 is our guest room and the smallest of the three. It contains a Double bed (extra length).
Guest access
There are 2 storeys, with a staircase linking the top floor - not wheelchair friendly. We used to have baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs - but have taken the bottom one off - so not suitable for crawling babies (unless supervised).

Neighbourhood
We live in an older neighbourhood called Oranjezicht / Higgovale at the foot of Table Mountain. We are conveniently close to vibey Kloof Street with lots of restaurants and shops - but our street is a quiet cul de sac - providing a peaceful respite within the city.
Nearest airport
Cape Town International Airport is 20km away
Getting around
There are shops within walking distance from our house for basic things. There is a myCiti busstop 200m away from our house which links you to many destinations / routes in the city and peninsula. The best way to see all Cape Town has to offer is to rent a car. We would be open to exchanging / leaving one of our cars for your use.

We are a couple in our late 30s - I am an architect, and my husband Gustav is a pilot for an international airline. We have 2 daughters - Mila (5) and Lea (2). We have lived in Cape Town for 15 years, but are originally from Hermanus, a small town 150 kms from Cape Town. We love to travel, but Cape Town is our home - nothing beats the weather, the mountains and the beaches on our doorstep, and the lifestyle we have here. We'd love to share this with you while we are away following our pappa and husband on trips around the world. We can fly easily and our kids are still young, so we are flexible with dates and destinations in exchange.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
