This is a newer build (25 years ago) in amongst an original 1800s Royal Barracks called St George Barracks - Royal Clarence Yard, 1 min walk and views from the appartment to Portsmouth Harbour. It’s a beautiful location, easy access to the main railway station in Portsmouth as well as only 45 minutes away from Southampton - Airport.
The area has many attractive element including history of Royal Navy, current Navy (HMS Prince Of Wales aircraft carrier currently docked), lovely waterfront on the west of Gosport and easy access to many beautiful locations in Hampshire and further afield.
London is a less than 90 mins drive or train.
Our home here at The Crowe’s Nest is an eclectic 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment.
It’s our primary home as we downsized 6 years ago to be able to travel more. Covid obviously put paid to that for a long while but it allowed us to explore our area more and we realised what a gem of a location we are in! We kind of knew we were in a fab spot but it just gets better the more you wander! Including the Harbourside walks in all directions, looking across to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, local stone beaches and more.
The local independent coffee stop is a MUST, not only because I do the odd guest appearance as the average barista but the coffee and on site baked cakes by local owner are amazing!
The space
2 bedrooms, both with super comfortable double beds, 1 room en-suite, a 2nd main (bath) bathroom. Lounge and dining and kitchen in one large space as well as shared gardens. This is a 1st floor with easy stairs to climb (2 flights of 8) but no wheelchair accessible.
A very light and airy apartment with long windows to all rooms. Only 3 neighbours, 2 downstairs and one opposite (it’s a big square build and we all have a 1/4 each if that makes sense!), all 3 are older ladies and very quiet. We are not on a through route walking wise to the front shared entrance door.
Our apartment displays our loves for sailing / nautical aspects, art, wine, gin, New Zealand, travel in general, Marmite (my collection, husband is a hater, I’m the lover!), music also features heavily in our art work and collections of gig related memorabilia!
It’s homely, cosy, warm in winter, warm in summer (fan in hallway photos keeping us cool during an unusual spell of warmth this year), has everything you need in the kitchen, a bath tub in the main bathroom with shower over and a walk in shower in the en-suite.
Guest access
2 floors, 16 stairs easy access but not wheelchair accessible.
Notes
We have super WiFi. We are electric only with a super functional kitchen, dishwasher, induction hob. We are quirky art & travel fans and our home reflects this!
We also own a CamperVan micro business with a Vw T6. CamperVan that could be a part of the swap even! Extend your stay in the UK to explore in a super CamperVan. Campers Of Distinction on Facebook / Instagram and a small web page will show the two VWs, Mr BlueSky and Dora!

Neighbourhood
As mentioned in the overview, we are in the Royal Clarence Yard area. An 17/1800s naval area used for ‘victualling’ - food, meat, beer, bread, granary and so much more on the other side of Forton creek. We have a micro brewery, part of the Royal Historical Dockyard area at Explosion museum and some lovely waterside walks with lovely traditional English pubs nearby.
There is only one road into and out of and we are not a cut through. Traffic is light. It’s very quiet here in the main.
Lots to do locally but also an easy stretch out to many beautiful locations within Hampshire and across the south.
