General overview
Beautiful apartment close to Island Mainau, the beach and the forest, ideal location to relax or enjoy an active holiday on lake Constance in every season. You can enjoy Konstanz in every season: come for the spring carnival in February-March, for wine and beer festivals throughout summer and autumn, for the great fireworks and music festival in August or for the wonderful Christmas market in December. You can walk into Switzerland from Konstanz, and the Swiss Alps are under two hours away by car for hiking, skiing or other outdoor activities. We are currently looking to exchange with someone living in Mannheim, Germany (in February), Lisbon (in July) & Mallorca or Malaga (in October)
The space
We live in a large, bright apartment with a lake view, a balcony and a terrace. There is a double bed with memory foam matress, two single beds (either for adults or kids), a baby bed and two pull-out couches in the living room. We live on the ground floor, so people with restricted mobility would not have a problem to access the apartment. The coffee lovers can enjoy our new coffee machine that makes all kinds of coffee-based beverages. Our nice terrace and balcony with pot plants are an oasis where you can enjoy your morning coffee, a good meal or a glass of wine after a refreshing swim in the lake.
Guest access
We live on the ground floor. There are stairs only if you access our apartment frm the garage.
Notes
We are happy to host you when we are away, but also when we are here, if our guests are happy to share our apartment with us. We do not smoke and do not encourage smoking inside the apartment, but we have a balcony and a terrace, should you apply as a smoker. You will receive a Guest Welcome list on your arrival, with extra information for an enjoyable stay. Our only wish is for you to make the best of your time here while treating own home as you would your own and being respectful towards our neighbours. No parties allowed and no disturbing noises during lunch time and after 10 pm (Germans are pretty strict about this rule). We would be greatful if you could water our pot plants while we are away and bring the mail in.

Neighbourhood
The apartment is set in a quiet residential area, family and kids-friendly, with all the needed facilities listed and a playground just minutes away on foot. It's right on the lake and close to the woods for cycling or mountainbiking also. It is only 2 minutes away from a beach on Lake Constance and the university sports ground, with a gym just steps away from us. It is also a 10-minute walk from world famous Island Mainau, the flower island on lake Constance, and an extraordinary Erlebniswald in the woods that offers tree and rope climbing for everybody over 10 years of age.
Getting around
Shops are only 5 minute away by car or two bus stops away. A bus to the city center runs every 15 to 30 minutes, more often at rush hours. The bike path that circles the lake goes right past our building. Good bus connection also to the nearby villages by the lake. The ferry (also for cars and bikes) to Meersburg is also close by, which offers a great chance to visit Meersburg with its gorgeous castle and medieval old city. The Austrian and Swiss Alps across the lake are a sight to behold when the foehn wind is blowing. The train station is only about 20 minutes away by bus or a short taxi ride away.

We are a young, cheerful, warm, generous and well-travelled family of four (with two boys currently aged 5 and 2) living in Konstanz in Southern Germany. We deeply love and strive to understand nature in all its forms, be it human, animal, plant or mineral. We have a little terrace and balcony with pot plants and herbs that we love to tend to in summer, and the kids love helping us take care of them. Catalina is an academic scholar of English and Comparative literature and also a photographer, and Stefan is an engineer specialising in electrical design in the automotive, aeroplane and car industries. We love animals and enjoy the great outdoors, particularly hiking in the mountains, bathing in the lake, walking by lake Constance or wandering around our local woods. We also love to ride our bikes and play with our children. We speak English, German, French, Italian and Romanian fluently, and can understand Spanish and Portuguese. We are avid travellers, love reading, photography, hiking, biking and learning new things wherever we are. We are looking forward to geting to know you.
