Hospitality Description: I'd be happy to host a traveller in my home, there is a spare bedroom and a separate bathroom for anyone who stays. I work downtown through the week, so would not be home during the days.

General Overview
Close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains (Banff National Park, Canmore, Kananaskis Mountains and the foothills) - it's only a 90 minute drive to Banff or Kananaskis Park. There are a few nice Golf courses close by and a great bike path system if you are a cyclist and happen to be bringing your bike to town (or want to rent one). As mentioned we are 90 minutes from Banff and mountain skiing, however there is a ski hill right in town at Canada Olympic Park. There are lots of family-friendly things to do in Calgary, we have a beautiful Zoo, Science Centre, Heritage Park (127 Acre Historical Village that highlights 1860 - 1950, Canada’s largest “living” history museum - rides for the kids and a look back in time). if it’s summer, you can rent a raft and float down the Bow River!
- Banff - 90 minutes west of Calgary
- Lake Louse /Moraine Lake - 2 hours west of Calgary
- Drumheller (Dinosaur National Park) 90 minutes east
- Edmonton (West Edmonton Mall) - 3 hours north of Calgary
- Waterton Lakes National Park - 2.5 hours south of Calgary
- Coutts Border crossing to the USA - 2.5 hours south of Calgary
The Space
My home is not overcomplicated with too much furniture, I try to keep it simple and tasteful, I live alone so I don't have anything here for kids. It's a brand new house, I have been living here for a little more than one year. It's an open concept and spacious, it's nice and bright with large windows and high ceilings. The neighbourhood is quiet and I have great neighbours. Cute backyard (it's small but if it's not snowy, it's really cute). I do have a gas BBQ and a small propane fire pit and a few chairs outside. are 3 bedrooms but currently one of them is set up as an office/exercise area (you could throw an air mattress in there if you wanted). I currently have a Peloton, but not sure if I will keep it long term. Master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed (smaller than a queen but bigger than a single). I do not have pets (I am allergic) and cannot have pets in my house. I have not called it pet-free as there are 2 small dogs in the basement suite, they do not come into my main floor at all.
Guest Access
The living room, kitchen, and dining room (and half bath) are on the main floor. All bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms are on the second floor.
Notes
I have listed many "desired" destinations; however, I am open to tons of cities/countries, there are too many to list! Europe is a favorite continent for me, but I would consider lots of different cities/countries.
I have a tenant living in the legal basement suite, she has 2 small dogs. They have their own separate entrance and will not impact anyone staying in the main area of the house - There are no shared spaces with the tenant downstairs. The little dogs downstairs are quiet. As this is a legal suite, there would be no reason you need to cross paths (unless you see her outside as she walks her dogs) or communicate with her.

Neighbourhood
I live in the beautiful neighbourhood of Mahogany (one of Calgary’s best neighbourhoods) which is in the Southeast area of Calgary. It's a newer, upscale, lake community (with lovely family beaches) pathways, wetlands and lots of parks. If access to the lake (if you happen to be here in the summer) is important to you, I could look into arranging access for you.
There are lots of amenities close by (4-minute drive), Grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants and other shops. 5 minute walk to a convenience store, pharmacy, pizza place and liquor store.
Getting to my home
It's an easy 35 minute drive (Uber, taxi or rental car) from the Calgary International Airport.
Nearest airport
Calgary International Airport is a 35 minute drive from my house.
Getting Around
As I live in a suburb, you will likely need a car if you were staying in this area, I may consider a car swap.
there is a city bus stop a few blocks away, but the bus does not run that often.

People Like Us Local Guide
I'd be happy to be of assistance, answer any questions or provide information for anyone travelling in my area. I could meet for coffee and possibly a meal if interested.
We had the most amazing stay in Andrea’s home. It was in a great location, near local shops and restaurants and a short drive to Calgary city. The house was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Andrea went above and beyond leaving us with a care package full of treats including some locally brewed beers. We came home to find our house so well cared for and spotless. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Calgary, Andrea’s home or Andrea herself as a home swap partner.
Thank you Siobhan, it was a real pleasure to connect with you, Greg and Ger! You were all so accommodating and helpful, I couldn’t have had a better exchange. Happy travels in the future!
Andrea treated our home like her own. It was a pleasure to come back to a spotless and cared-for house after our holiday.
I feel lucky to have connected with Greg and Siobahn, they are such lovely, genuine people, and I felt that we really hit it off. We Facetimed twice before our exchange which was super helpful. They were very thoughtful and helpful, which was amazing as this was my very first exchange and I am a solo traveler.
Their home is very clean, bright and welcoming, I found it very comfortable and relaxing. They were very well-prepared for our home exchange; they had everything available that I could ever need. Their house binder is phenomenal; it had instructions for every amenity and appliance (small and large) in the home. It also had restaurant recommendations and very detailed instructions on transit transportation from their home to various points of interest. Their home is in great proximity to the beautiful town of Malahide and an easy train ride from Malahide to beautiful Howth!
I was really happy to have Greg and Siobahn as my first home exchange guests. Communications were great, they are very warm and friendly. We stayed in touch during our exchange; they were very accessible. They took great care while they stayed at my house, it was spotless and perfect when I returned home from our exchange! Couldn't ask for better guests!

Andrea
Hi, my name is Andrea, I am a professional working in downtown Calgary. I like to travel a couple of times a year. I live alone in my home and I sometimes travel on my own or sometimes with a friend or sometimes with my adult daughters and 2 grandchildren. If we are travelling as a family, we are 5, the kids are 9 & 16.
I have not marked my calendar as I can be pretty flexible on travel dates!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.

Oct 2024 - A rare treat to see the Northern Lights in Calgary, this was a few blocks from my house.
Great view of the City of Calgary with the Rocky Mountains as the backdrop. Beautiful, clean city.

Drumheller, Alberta, a part of the Badlands (90 minute drive from my house). You will find the Royal Tyrrell Musuem here, which contains a large collection of dinosaur fossils. Also, Dinosaur Provincial Park Campground. There are hiking trails, comfort camping and other outdoor activities.
Beautiful Drumheller with its unique eroded landscape is ideal for light hiking and fossil exploration.
