Neighbourhood

You can go to Copenhagen fairly quickly. It takes about half an hour by car or by train from Kokkedal Station. In Northern Zealand there are a lot of nature and a lot of lakes, the naerest is Esrum lake (9 km), where you can rent kayaks, paddleboards and canoes. There are a lot of beaches around here, with Nivå Strand being the closest (5 km). We are quite nearby Helsingør as well, where you can find Kronborg Castle and the Maritime Museum, M/S, or explore the old part of the city with its many cafés and shops. Our house is 8 km away from Fredensborg Palace Gardens, where the queen lives in the summertime. You can reach Frederiksborg Castle and its Palace park (Hillerød) in 15 minutes by car.

Nearest airport

Copenhagen Airport Kastrup. About 35-40 min. by car, or 50 min. with train.

Getting around

When getting around here, it is best to have a car. There are buses going around, so it is certainly possible to manage without one, but the easiest way is by car. We have some bikes you can borrow if you want to take a ride in the countryside. The nearest train station is Kokkedal St., alternatively Rungsted Kyst Station. The nearest busstops are "Tranegård" (Route 375R going between Rungsted Kyst and Hillerød train stations) or "Vejenbrødvej" (Route 365R between Kokkedal and Fredensborg train stations). If you take either of those buses in the southbound direction, you can hop off at "Fredensborg Rådhus", and switch to other bus lines.

Ingileif

We are a Danish/Icelandic family of 5, or 7 with the cats... Michael, 52, astrophysisist and highschool teacher. Ingileif, 48, medical secretary at a general pracitioner. Julius, 18, student at Rungsted Gymnasium. Ulrik, 13, pupil at Fredensborg Skole. Lauritz, 6, goes to kindergarten until this summer, where he will start in school. We like to travel. Most of our holidays have been to Iceland, as Ingileif comes from Iceland, and we have often exchanged houses and cars with people in Iceland with great success. Now we want to broaden our horizon and see other parts of the world. We are looking for a family that wants to see the beauty of Northern Sealand in the summer. Note, that we have cats that need to be fed, and sometimes, if a dry summer, some plants need water.
