Neighbourhood
I would say, that our location is perfect if you like to explore the beauty of Denmark. Our "ranch" has been in the family for now 7 generations. You can reach a beach within 10 minutes, a royal garden within 10 minutes, a forest within 10 minutes... I could keep on going 😊
You can go to Copenhagen fairly quickly. It takes about half an hour by car or by train from Kokkedal Station.
In Northern Zealand there is a lot of nature and a lot of forrests, beaches, lakes; the naerest lake is Esrum lake (9 km), where you can rent kayaks, paddleboards and canoes.
There are a lot of beaches around here, with Nivå Strand being the closest (5 km).
We are quite nearby Helsingør (Elsinore) as well, where you can find Kronborg Castle (where the story of Hamlet is inspired by) and the Maritime Museum, M/S, or explore the old part of the city with its many cafés and shops.
Our house is 8 km away from Fredensborg Palace Gardens, where the royal familie and especially the old queen lives in the summertime, but not in July, where you can visit the inner garden of the big palace garden, which is otherwise closed.
You can reach Frederiksborg Castle and its Palace park (Hillerød) in 15 minutes by car.
Nearest airport
Copenhagen Airport Kastrup.
About 35-40 min. by car, or 50 min. with train.
Getting around
When getting around here, it is best to have a car. There are buses going around, so it is certainly possible to manage without one, but the easiest way is by car.
We have some bikes you can borrow if you want to take a ride in the countryside.
If we are doing simultaneous swap, we could certainly do car swapping as well. We have a Toyota, that can fit 7 people (or 5 with luggage)
The nearest train station is Kokkedal St.
The nearest busstops are "Tranegård" (Route 375R going between Rungsted Kyst and Hillerød train stations)
or "Vejenbrødvej" (Route 365R between Kokkedal and Fredensborg train stations).
If you take either of those buses in the southbound direction, you can hop off at "Fredensborg Rådhus", and switch to other bus lines.

Ingileif
We are a Danish/Icelandic family of 5. Michael, 52, astrophysisist and highschool teacher. Ingileif, 48, medical secretary at a general pracitioner. Julius 18 y.o., Ulrik 13 y.o. and Lauritz 6 y.o.
We like to travel. Most of our holidays have been to Iceland, as Ingileif comes from Iceland, and we have often exchanged houses and cars with people in Iceland with great success. Ingileif has also lived in The Netherlands and in Belgium, as well as in Sweden.
Now we want to broaden our horizon as a family and see the world as PLU'ers.
Note, that we have 2 easy going cats that need to be fed.
"Would love to take a long weekend trip to Sweden"
