The space
HOUSE: built on a large flat lot, with ample parking. The house has had some major updates in the last few months, making it cozy in the winter, and cool and fabulous in the summer. Bright and cheerful, there are windows everywhere, heat pumps for the hot and cold weather, table tennis, a large lawn with space to kick a ball around, play badminton and play with the pup, plus a swing and hammock. Truly a great place to relax for you and your dog, and in a central position on Vancouver Island, providing a great base for exploring. 2 dedicated workspaces for the digital nomads!
CONDO: 1 bedroom condo, 18th floor with views east across the city. Shops, restaurants, beaches, and parks all on your doorstep. Comfortable queen sized bed, and tidy living/dining room and kitchen. Easy place to work from with desks in the living room and bedroom. 570SqFt goes a long way in this condo that we call home when not at the house.
Guest access
HOUSE: the house is mostly single story, plus 2 bedrooms upstairs. You enter through the main door into a front living room/work space which opens up to the dining room and kitchen. The main bathroom, with radiant heating, can be accessed from the workspace or laundry room. A main floor bedroom is also accessed from the front living room. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, and radiant heating. The large living room at the rear has a vaulted ceiling, wood stove, and access to the back garden. A sunny work space is also on this level.
Up one flight of stairs to two good size bedrooms, each with a queen size bed.
CONDO: parking for one car, and elevator access to the 18th floor from the main front door, or loading bay/recycling area door from the back laneway.
Notes
HOUSE & CONDO: Wifi works great, and the internet super fast. Both places are easy and comfortable places to call home, for living and working.

Neighbourhood
HOUSE: The house is situated a few minutes walk from the village of Coombs, and 5 minutes drive from the main Vancouver Island highway, providing great access to everything Vancouver Island offers. Lots of parking on the driveway. 10-minute drive to the towns of Parksville and Qualicum Beach with lots of shopping and beach access.
Having a car is essential, but there is great biking and walking too.
CONDO: The condo is close to Denman St and Davie St with many shops and restaurants. The lovely tree-lined streets of the West End are great for a stroll, or to walk your dog. Two dog parks nearby, and world famous Stanley Park is right there! Beaches are easily accessed. Join many Vancouverites to watch the sun setting at Sunset Beach, enjoy the summer fireworks from the beach, and watch the fabulous Vancouver Pride Parade in early August.
Getting to my home
HOUSE: Take a BC Ferries ride from Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo (Departure Bay). Ferries run multiple times throughout the day. From the Departure Bay terminal in Nanaimo, make your way to highway 19 and drive north towards Parksville, then take exit 51 (approx 25 mins from Nanaimo) signposted Coombs & Parksville. Station Road is a few minutes drive from exit 51, and the house can be found on the left in around 400 meters.
CONDO: from Vancouver airport, take SkyTrain to Yaletown Roundhouse station and the #6 bus to Denman at Comox/ Nelson and you've arrived. Else drive into Vancouver downtown, then take Davie St to Denman, and the laneway between Comox and Pendrell to park in the condo's underground (secure) parkade.

Getting around
HOUSE: A car is essential, but bikes are also great (there are two adult bikes at the house available to use, and a bike rental store a short walk away). So many places to go for day trips, or camping, AirB&Bs and hotel for longer trips to places like Tofino (enjoy the beaches, hikes, or take a fabulous boat ride to the hot springs), or Telegraph Cove for a wonderful bear watching tour. So many lakes, mountains, rivers, and beaches all within reach.
CONDO: A car is not essential for getting around the local neighbourhoods - BC Transit services are great. A car is great too for getting out of the city and enjoying all that the Lower Mainland has to offer and the condo comes with a parking spot. Biking is great, and very safe on the many bike routes. Roller blades and scooters are also fun.
