General Overview

Our large, bright, and modern (3 key things not to be taken for granted in the historic center!) 4 bedroom/2 bath family-friendly apartment is located on one of the only genuine pedestrian plazas in the heart of Valencia's Old Town. Walk EVERYWHERE or hop on the many public transit options right outside our front door. Enjoy the convenience of close-by amenities and let Europe's largest indoor food market be your source for fresh groceries! Walk to key historic sites and museums - the Silk Museum is our next-door neighbor. Many groceries, bakeries, cafes, bars, restaurants are within a 2 minute walk.

The Space

ELEVATOR: The apartment is located on the 6th floor (two elevators service the building - one is handicap accessible, the other requires walking up 3 steps). This also means that we are high enough to avoid noise/outdoor smoking from the active plaza below (NOTE: STRs in Valencia are usually located just above street level, which can mean cafe/traffic noise, smoke) LIGHT: All rooms (except bathrooms) have big windows and enjoy bright streaming sunshine (lights only necessary at night). HEAT/AC: Central heat and air conditioning throughout ENTIRE APT BEDROOMS: -huge Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, king-size bed. It overlooks the pedestrian plaza below with a view of charming tiled rooftops and domes. -huge bedroom with a twin bed and new pull-out sofa (double). The sofa can use the extra matress topper we have on hand, or this topper can be laid on floor of the huge walk-in closet adjacent to the Master suite) -medium sized room with double bed -small bedroom with twin bunk beds KITCHEN: The large kitchen has loads of workspace and countertop. It is fully outfitted to serve teh needs of our family of 5. Best of all, it's conveniently located adjacent to the dining room (often not the case in Spanish apartments). All new appliances, including 3-burner induction stovetop, convection wall oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, microwave, toaster. We use an old fashioned Italian 'cafeteria' to make our coffee. We are happy to provide bottled water service, with a hot/cold dispenser (Valencia's drinking water is not so delicious.) DINING/LIVING ROOM: Big open living area. The expandable dining table can bit up to 8 comfortably (there are spare folding chairs). The living room TV has local channels, Netflix, and Apple TV KID STUFF: With 3 kids, our home is kid-friendly. We also provide a travel crib and highchair upon request.

Guest Access

While we haven't tested it with a wheelchair, with the elevator and single-level living, and walk-in shower (the ensuite has a sliding glass door but the hallway bathroom is wide opening w/1" raise into shower.

Getting to my home

Cannot be more centrally located! By: Airport - we are a 20 minute direct metro ride from the airport. Metro - A 7 minute walk from apartment, the 'Angel Guimera' station services 6 different lines. Train/High Speed Rail (AVE) - A 15 minute walk from Joaquin Sorolla Train Station (the high speed AVE (Barcelona, Madrid) services this station) and 10 minute walk from Estacio del Nord (other Renfe trains, plus the more regional trains). Sorolla is also an option for car rentals (all companies have offices). Bus - a dizzying number of options are within 2 blocks. We take the bus to the beach (25 minutes)!

Nearest airport

Valencia airport is a 20 minute metro ride. Or 15 minute taxi ride (about 15-20 euro)

Getting Around

Walk right outside the door - everything is at your feet!

Our family of 5 (kids 8, 11, 14) lives in Valencia, Spain, where we moved from Washington, DC. We love exploring new places and trying new things - the more active, the better. We are new to PLU but not to exchanging, which is something we've done a lot of! With 3 kids in school, we tend to travel during school vacations (these are reflected in the calendar). Our planning timelines is about 6 months out - we lean toward more spontaneous. (We are prepared to make exceptions for bucket list locations: Iceland and Scandinavia).
