Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood in South Florida is in the Boynton Beach city limits, where you can walk to nearby shops, dining, a movie theater, and a shopping mall. Our small waterfront neighborhood is a great location to enjoy nature, birds, fishing, outdoor living, and proximity to retail and nature destinations. A pleasant shaded walking trail is right across the street from the Oasis. Our family home "the Oasis" is on a freshwater canal on the 38-mile Chain of Lakes that connects Lake Osborne and Lake Ida and ultimately flows to the northern Everglades. The Oasis is a tropical environment right in the city, where you listen to the rustle of palm fronds, bamboo stalks, and the call of water birds from the canal. 3 miles from the beach and close to several Freedom Boat Club locations. The Oasis is in Palm Beach County, Florida, and is close to many desirable vacation destinations: - 17 miles south of W. Palm Beach - 37 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale - 55 miles north of Miami - 119 miles north of Key Largo Guests to our area have enjoyed visiting Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and the Everglades. Some guests have even made day or overnight trips to the Florida Keys. Boynton Beach has a fast-growing population of about 85,000 people, access to many natural areas, and several wetlands that offer premiere bird watching. You are close to many vibrant nearby communities with vibrant arts, music, and nightlife. What you will love in the neighborhood: The city of Boynton Beach has a lively downtown and a newly constructed (2020) Boynton Beach Town Square. Home of the biennial International Kinetic Art Exhibit & Symposium, Boynton Beach supports public art and green space. Free concerts on the green, night markets, and city events happen all year long. Boynton Beach is literally blooming and growing every day, but the city still retains a nice hometown feel. - A rich maritime heritage city, Boynton Beach offers - One town north of historic Delray Beach, home of the Delray Beach Tennis Center, the winner of 3 All American City Awards, and Best Main Street in Florida. - 2 towns north of beautiful Boca Raton, known for its shopping, museums, restaurants, golf courses, parks, and beaches. - Close to downtown West Palm Beach with the Norton Museum of Art, a lively downtown, Clematis Street, and CityPlace districts filled with restaurants, shops, bars, and clubs. - For the gamblers and music lovers, drive to The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, just west of Fort Lauderdale. - The Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge offers easy access to the Florida Everglades, one of the world's wonders. This vast subtropical wilderness is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and Wetland of International Importance (10 miles, 20-minute drive). - You can see sea turtles and manatees at nearby conservation centers. There is so much to see and do here, from beaches and parks to museums and the nightlife in Miami. All of southeast Florida can be conveniently accessed from this neighborhood, located 1 mile from Interstate 95 and 4 miles from the Florida Turnpike. You will need a car for your stay. I created a little blog to feature some of the awesome things to do and places to visit in our area. See https://silver-lining.blog/homeexchanging/ for an overview of the area and tips on fun things to do - Palm Beach Cultural Destination Guide https://www.palmbeachculture.com/things-to-do/destinations - https://www.visitdelraybeach.org/plays/wakodahatchee-wetlands/ - https://www.boynton-beach.org/visitors Boynton Beach is literally blooming and growing every day, but the city still retains a nice hometown feel. There is so much to see and do here, from our famous beaches to the nightlife in Miami.

Nearest airport

You have good choices for air travel: - 17 miles south of Palm Beach International (PBI) airport - 37 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale International (FLL) airport - 55 miles north of Miami International (MIA) airport

Getting around

As most of Florida dictates travel by car, we recommend a car for an ideal stay. You can walk to several nearby grocery stores, restaurants, shopping areas, dining, movie theater, and shopping mall. Boynton Beach is the ideal location to visit posh Palm Beach, trendy West Palm Beach, funky Lake Worth, hopping Delray Beach, and is close enough to make day trips to Ft. Lauderdale for a tour on the water taxi, the Florida Everglades National Park, or Miami Beach to gaze at hipsters.

Home exchange has been a big part of my life since 2010 with consistently positive experiences on over 55 exchanges. I strive to be curious, welcoming, and flexible. I am a nature enthusiast, boater, walker, birdwatcher, lifelong learner, and museum lover. I love to travel to our planet's beautiful destinations, most notably natural destinations, nature preserves, and national parks in the United States. I also enjoy cities and urban adventures where a car isn't required. I am not particular about the size or extravagance of where I stay. As the child of a commercial airline pilot, I have a lifetime habit of traveling and exploring new places. I am quiet, a good steward, and a nonsmoker. I make sure to treat your home with respect and leave it as I found it. As a member of Freedom Boat Club, I am especially interested in traveling to destinations where I can go boating in your port of call. Do you want to come and see Boynton Beach? I love where I live and want to share it with others. Let me know if you are in the area. I like to meet fellow travelers.
