Historic Devonport is a 12 minute ferry ride from central Auckland. The relaxed lifestyle with cafes, restaurants, boutiques and beaches make it a wonderful holiday destination.

Der Raum
Downstairs consists of a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, a simple dining room that seats 4-5 people and leads out to a small conservatory with an easy chair for reading. The living room is quite spacious , with a fireplace, and opens onto a courtyard , which admittedly needs re-cobbling in the near future! Upstairs our home comprises two bedrooms with king single beds and one with a queen bed. The bathroom and toilet are seperate and are upstairs. We share a washing machine with my adult son and partner who live in a studio attached to, but not part of, the house. These two adults may also join us on an exchange, in which case you would also have the use of their studio, with queen bed, extra shower and toilet.
Gastzugang
Two level living, with carparking right by the front door.
We don’t have TV but there is a screen if you want to connect your computer and watch movies.
Anmerkungen
I am currently living here with just my children (hubby stayed in France for work) so the exchange would be for 3-5 people (if the older couple join).

Nachbarschaft
Cheltenham and Narrowneck beaches are equi-distant from the house at just 400 metres. Two dormant volcanoes, North Head and Mt Victoria, are lovely to walk up and around - with views to die for - and fun for chikdren to slide down on cardboard boxes! We are licky enough to have the delicious French cafe, Chateabriant , situated just 500 metres away, and there is a good choice of other cafes, restaurants, milk bars etc very close by. The Navy museum is a must , and the Devonport ‘historic’ museum is also interesting for its memorabilia, records and photos.
Zu mir nach Hause kommen
The nearest international airport is Auckland. There is a bus that takes you to the cuty and then a 10 minute ferry ride to cross over to Devonport. Alternatively a rental car trip would take 45 minutes outside of rush hour.

Walking and cycling are very popular here and we may be able to leave a bike or two to use. A bus stops opposite our driveway and will take you the two kms to the centre of the village. In the other direction you have Takapuna, which is also serviced by a bus. The ferryvto the city goes half hourly most of the time https://www.fullers.co.nz/timetables-and-fares/?from=DEVO&to=AUCK
Rangitoto , Tiritiri and Waiheke islands can also be reached directly from Devonport or woth a city connection.

Jose
Our New Zealand-French family is changing shape slightly since first joining PLU. Mum, José is currently living in New Zealand with the children, while Dad, Gilles holds the fort in France. He moves between Paris and Normandy but doesn't feel he can cope with organising exchanges there so we have temporarily paused our Paris region apartment. We do still have the studio in the Alps to offer , as well as our home in Auckland, New Zealand.
I addition to this we would love to host any 18+ children of PLUs, as our daughter is going travelling from May 2022 so her room in NZ will be free for short stays.
