General overview

Our home is welcoming, simple, and cozy. We live in a single-family ground-level home. We have one German Shepard, Dash, and one Great Dane, Luna-Mae, who will typically be with us or with family when traveling. We welcome families with up to two well-mannered dogs(sorry-no cats). On occasion, we will need our exchangers to watch over our Great Dane, Luna-Mae, but she is very sweet, super snuggly, and absolutely loves everyone.

The space

The kitchen is fully stocked with every piece of equipment you may need during your stay if you plan to cook at home. Feel free to use spices, condiments, and other little extras left in the fridge or cabinets. Fire extinguisher under the sink, for safety. The dining room is a large square table that fits up to 8 people, it is currently seated for 6. Our living room features a large sectional couch that has seen much love between our dogs and children but is still very comfortable and big enough for the whole family. We have many board games, Oculus Quest 2, and a computer with printer/scanner/fax available for use. The master bedroom features a king-size bed. I like to keep a zen space, lots of gentle lights, tapestries, incense, essential oils, Himalayan salt lamps, and candles. We have a projector set up in this room as well with Roku. The master bedroom has a guest closet and a private full bathroom featuring a double vanity and a large shower with toiletries available. We have one bedroom that has a twin loft bed. This room has many children’s toys, board games, puzzles, Roku TV, Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, and more. The next bedroom available is a teenager’s room with one twin-size bed and a 40" TV with Roku available. The next bedroom is a guest room, that has a full bed, dresser, and desk for guest use. This room also has a 32" TV with Roku. The main house bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub. We will always typically leave toiletries for our guests to use, so you will likely not need much unless there are specifics you must have. We have all the toiletries needed for your stay: towels, soap, toilet paper, emergency over-the-counter medications, and a small first aid kit. The backyard patio is where you can sit and relax while watching the stars at night, smokers can enjoy smoking in this area of the house ONLY. The backyard is not yet completely fenced in so keep note if bringing pets. The backyard is medium-sized but allows pets and children to play safely. We have many toys, activities, and a trampoline in the back for children to enjoy! You are welcome to use the washer and dryer available in the laundry room. There is one garage space available unless I leave my car as part of the exchange. There is also a little home workout area within the garage with accessories and weights.

Guest access

Guests will have access to all unlocked areas of the house and yard. We have a code for the front door for keyless entry, so no worries on what time you arrive. There is a lockbox on the side of the house, in case the power goes out. I will most likely meet you if I am available when you arrive just to get you settled in the house. Vehicle exchanges considered when available, we have a 2009 Nissan Murano, seats 5 with a hatchback fit for medium-sized pets or luggage.

Notes

Florida has some of the most amazing sunrises and sunsets you will ever see!! While it is Florida, it does get colder in the winter months, I always recommend preparing for any type of weather. August- October is hurricane season here. We have a system to be able to prepare for these storms, but recommend taking caution if traveling during those times. If there happens to be a hurricane or bad weather causing power outages, we have a house fit to withstand category 4/5 hurricanes, you will be safe here. We also have emergency water and food supplies.

Neighbourhood

Located 15 minutes from a long strip of public beaches and shopping areas. One hour from Disney and 1 hour 20 minutes from Universal and other Orlando attractions. Only 45 minutes from the Kennedy Space Center, where you can watch them launch rockets into space(see their website for launch dates and times- HIGHLY RECOMMEND). There are plenty of kayak rental places in the area with the best recommendations for ocean and freshwater kayaking. Florida has many natural springs ranging from 45 minutes to 3 hours away; so beautiful and worth it! There are also a variety of hiking trails in the area for families or beginner hikers.

Getting to my home

Unless we are exchanging vehicles, I would highly recommend renting a vehicle when visiting. While there is public transportation and plenty of Uber/Lyft available in the area, you will want your freedom to explore.

Nearest airport

The nearest airport is Melbourne-Orlando International Airport(10 minutes away),Orlando International(MCO)(1 hour away),and the Sanford-Orlando Airport(1 hour 10 minutes). Ft. Lauderdale airport is approximately 2 hours away. There is also cruise ship departures in Port Canaveral about 35 minutes away.

Getting around

There are many car rental places in the area for longer drives out of the area. Turo is always my first go-to when renting a vehicle. Uber is very efficient for travelers who want to explore the local area. Downtown Melbourne has fun nightlife and is only. Uber Eats, grub Hub, and DoorDash make delivery at home very easy!

If you're in my area, especially with kids, we can meet up and enjoy some of the best sights there is to see here in Florida. Even if not with family, I'm a super foody, and love to eat out and enjoy some drinks!
