General overview
Our home dates back to 1704 and is one of the oldest wooden houses in Bergen. The house has lovely old features, which makes it warm, inviting and cozy. We have a burning interest in antiques and have decorated the house thereafter. The rooms reflect the typical vintage wooden house style of Norway and might give you a nice experience of traditional Norway.
The space
The house is divided in two separate entities, with Maria’s mum living on the first floor, and our home on the second and third floor. Upon entering the staircase, you will reach the living room, which gives access to a separate kitchen, washing room and terrace as well as the main bedroom and the staircase to the third floor. There you will find the bathroom with shower, and three separate bedrooms. Two of them have a single bed and the biggest of the three has a double bed. Our kitchen is well equipped. We also love gardening, and since we only have a small terrace, you will find plants both inside as well as outside the house.

Neighbourhood
Since Nordnes is a peninsula in the middle of the city, it is also a quiet and safe area. Shops, cafe's, bakeries and restaurants are nearby, and there is also the possibility for city bike rental just outside the house. The boat terminal to reach all the fjords like Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord by express boat is only a 5 minutes’ walk from the house.
If you are interested in hiking and nature, the mountains and forest are only a 10 minutes’ walk away, and one can easily take the Fløyen funicular to reach the top of Fløyen mountain in little time. Bergen is surrounded by seven mountains, which all are very suited for hiking. Two of them also have a funicular, which makes them easily accessible for everyone.
Getting around
5 minutes’ walk to central Bergen
Beautiful home, a lot of antiques, a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely little terrace with many plants and trees, perfect for a coffee/tee or cold beer on warm summer evenings.
Beautiful views over the city and seven mountains.
A quiet and safe yet very central area.

Maria Serina
We are Thomas & Maria, a family of five including 3 children (boy - 13, girls - 7 and 2). Thomas is Belgian and Maria is Norwegian. We both live in the middle of Bergen, a coastal town on the west coast of Norway and the 2nd largest in the country. We enjoy traveling, either together with all the kids are with our smallest one. We are both very social and adventurous people, and love to get to know new people when traveling. Maria is an actress and also a teacher at a local Walfdorf school and Thomas works with the Erasmus+ programme at a Norwegian state agency. He is also a Scottish bagpipe player.
Our home is situated in the middle of the historical city centre of Bergen, and dates back to 1704. All kids are very tidy and well used to living in a house full of antiques. We have a lot of common interests, which includes antiques, gardening, long walks as well as a big musical interest. We travel often to family in Belgium and to Scotland, where Thomas plays in a grade 2 Scottish pipe band in Aberdeen.
