General Overview

The first white settlers built their homestead in the early 1800's on the land where our three season cottages now sit due to the artesian spring waters that nourish our land. Located in what we call the "North Country" our piece of paradise is in the Adirondack Park, 8 miles south of the Canadian border. The two cottages are 20 meters apart from each other, surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens. There is also a bunk house with bunk beds that came from the 1980 Lake Placid winter Olympics. The property is unique and sprawls out into three tiers: the cottages and other out buildings on the first tier, three trout ponds created from two of the springs in the middle tier, and riverfront on the Chateaugay River (that flows north into Montreal and the St Lawrence seaway); all connected by walkable paths and trails.

Ken and I are the Founders of a specialty organic rice company we started over 30 years ago in the Bay Area of Northern California. By partnering with small holder farmers around the world who were growing rice more sustainably we are keeping the diversity of rice alive, along with providing access to a global markets at a fair trade price. We have traveled extensively through Asia and now with my retirement and Ken cutting back on his work, we are interested in traveling the parts of the world we have yet to explore. We enjoy sharing our rural northern NY piece of paradise and two modest cottages that have been part of our 150 acre compound with friends and family.
