General Overview
This exchange lets you plan your exchange using our three homes. We suggest that you base out of the Casita in Alto de La Cruz since this home is the most accessible upon arrival. It is very easy to plan a one to two week stay using the Casita, the Waterfall Cabin and Casa Caleta as a beach destination.
The Casita in Alto de La Cruz is a ten minute drive from the town Santa Fe which has restaurants and grocery stores. The Casita is quite comfortable with two bedrooms and two baths. The house is very private with a beautiful garden and lots of citrus trees to pick tangerines, grapefruit and oranges in season. .
We also offer a remote cabin in the village of El Salto. The cabin is accessible via four wheel drive or is a two hour walk. It's rustic but comfortable. No electricity, but we use rechargeable lights. There is a propane stove, and a flush toilet. The waterfalls that cascade below the cabin are spectacular.
And, we have a small home above the beach in Calovebora. Lights, refrigeration and Starlink internet are powered by solar panels. See our listing Casa Caleta #41292 for more info
Santa Fe is still off the beaten track. Places like Santa Fe are increasing rare in this era of over tourism. Having said this, Santa Fe is becoming increasingly discovered. There is no lack of things to do if you like the outdoors. The hiking is incredible. We are one of the best birding spots in Panama. Kayaking and horseback trips can be arranged. Santa Fe is known for our orchids and butterflies. Our area is simply beautiful at all times of year.
The Space
The Casita is small, but well designed and comfortable for four to five people. The terrace has hammocks and beautiful views of the mountains. There is a covered rancho, with hammocks, to enjoy the view.
We ask for a $50 cleaning fee for the Casita and $25 for using the Waterfall cabin or Casa Caleta. We accept Plutos for stays of 1-3 days.
Guest Access
The Casita is on one floor. There are a couple of steps to access the house from the sidewalk.
Notes
We have an excellent internet signal through Starlink in the Casita and in Casa Caleta which allows for streaming video on your device or the small television in the houses. The Waterfall Cabin has good cell phone reception for calls and streaming using your phone.

Neighbourhood
Our neighbors are wonderful Panamanians. Very few people speak English so a little Spanish is helpful, but not essential.. Santa Fe is mountainous. There are countless rivers and waterfalls to explore. We are a birders paradise and can arrange professional guides if you like. Or you can just head out with a pair of binoculars...
Getting to my home
Most people fly into Tocumen International (Pty) in Panama City to spend a few days before traveling on to Santa Fe. Buses run to Santiago every half hour from Panama City (4 hours). Or you can rent a car which is very useful for seeing the country and getting around our area. Four wheel drive is not necessary. I can arrange for a driver to pick you up in Santiago, take you grocery shopping, and bring you to our home outside of Santa Fe. The road to Santa Fe from Santiago can be challenging. A new road is being built and is expected to be completed in 2025. Getting to Santa Fe is part of the adventure!
Nearest airport
Most of our guests fly into Tocumen International Airport (PTY) to spend a few days in Panama City before traveling on to Santa Fe
Getting Around
We are open to exchanging our Isuzu D Max pick up truck. The local bus transport passes by the gate approximately every 1-2 hours between 6 am and 6pm. Taxis are available from Santa Fe for $7. The hiking is extraordinary if you are walkers.

El Salto is very special. Our caretakers will cook for you and act as guides to some of the more inaccessible waterfalls if you're adventurous
The cabin was built for us by the people in the village of Salto using local wood. Everything else came up on horseback!
