General overview
Our comfortable and well furnished house sits in the middle of a friendly terrace of four Victorian cottages in a beautiful & historic English market town.
The space
You arrive at our front door up a short winding path through the garden. Downstairs there is a comfortable sitting room (with open fire for chilly winter nights), dining room, kitchen/conservatory and utility room, with gardens to the front and back. We especially like our bathroom (a great place to wallow and chat!) and our well-equipped kitchen. At the very top of the house is a second bedroom with a magnificent view across the rooftops to the Salisbury Plain (spot the chalk white horse on a distant hill-side - a typical Wiltshire landmark). Our furniture is a mixture of bits we have picked up on our travels and inherited antiques: not especially grand but comfortably traditional - we like to think it has everything you would need.
Guest access
Our house has four bedrooms but only two are set up for sleeping... We are both musicians and so there are a quite a few instruments in the others! However, this means that the house is nice and spacious for a party of two or three. The steps up to the top floor are quite steep - but the views are worth it!

Neighbourhood
Bradford on Avon is possibly Wiltshire's finest small market town with a medieval bridge, one of the oldest churches in England and steep winding lanes lined with old weavers' cottages. It is conveniently situated for exploring this historic region by train, bus or car and boasts an interesting selection of independent shops. Less than half an hour away is the splendid Georgian city of Bath (the 15 minute train ride there is among the prettiest in the south of England), Stonehenge and the National Trust village of Lacock, which has been used as the set for numerous films, including Harry Potter. A walk along the river will take you to picturesque neighbouring villages with delightful pubs; or, if you're feeling lazy, you could take a boat along the canal.
For golf players, there are excellent courses very close by.
The more urban centres of Bristol and London are both very easy for a day trip by train.
Nearest airport
Bristol is easy to reach by both car & public transport; Heathrow & Gatwick are both easily accessible by train or car.
Getting around
Bradford on Avon is well served for shops, all of which are within walking distance of our house. We are well connected: there are direct trains to Bath, Bristol & London from the station at the bottom of the hill and regular buses.
