Neighbourhood
Quiet residential neighborhood with large houses, trees, many cul-de-sacs (good for little kid bike riding), and a children's park and adjacent fenced-dog-park three short blocks away. Grocery stores are a 3/4 mile/1 kilometer walk out of the neighborhood onto a busy street. We are in a medium-sized city with some delicious food, some great live music, and a couple of children's museums. But the real draw here is our retreat-like house and our location, central to so much of what California is known for (California is BIG, lol).
We're at the mouth of the Kern River, 30 minutes from white water rafting.
We're an hour from the Giant Sequoias in one direction, and from Magic Mountain in the other.
We are 2 hours to the Central Coast or to the LA Beaches.
We're less than 3 hours in one direction to Yosemite National Park, and in the other direction to Disneyland.
Less than 4 hours to San Francisco in the north, or San Diego in the south.
And about 90 minutes to L.A. (where I commute to twice a week for work, smh).
(For reference to these distances, it takes 14 hours to drive in a straight line north to south in California and 8 hours to drive east to west).
Nearest airport
There is a small airport here, but the nearest international airport is LAX.
Getting around
It would be essential to have a car here. We are very open to car exchange, or possible use of our car without exchange.

We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet.
