General overview

We live in an almost 100 year old arts & crafts cozy brick house in the picturesque suburbs in the beautiful Hudson Valley 50 mins away from New York City. What you will love about this home - a 100 year old brick tudor with lots of character and artisanal details (gorgeous bricks, handmade tiles) - quiet backyard adjacent to a historic property and forest that provides ample space and privacy and features a small playground, a climbing dome, sandbox, fire pit and a pizza oven - 1 master bedroom with king size bed, 2 children bedrooms, one of which has a bunk bed - sunroom (solarium) on the second floor perfect for cold winter days, which can comfortably sleep one person on a spacious couch and offers additional multipurpose work and/or play space - 2 full bathrooms - gas fireplace on ground floor for cozy fall and winter evenings - washer and dryer in the basement - at large the house is a kid friendly space with some child and baby gear and toys Our house is a smoke free environment.

The space

This is a house you'd more likely expect to find in the Cotswolds or in Holland rather than in the NYC metro area. On the first floor, you will enter the living room with a piano and fireplace, directly connected to another sitting area with sofa. Next to that is a small office and a full bathroom with a hand-made tile floor and bidet toilet. On the same floor is the newly renovated custom-made kitchen, with modern appliances, and connected dining area with windows looking to the outdoor deck and backyard that backs up to a forest from whence the occasional deer or turkey may emerge. Upstairs is a second full bathroom, the three bedrooms, and a solarium - a room with two walls of wood-framed windows and a door leading out to a balcony overlooking the backyard. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a twin and a full size beds, and the third bedroom has a twin bed. In the basement are washing and drying machines and a kids' drum set.

We are a couple with three young kids (3, 7 and 10 years old). I am a food and nutrition scholar at New York Uni and my husband is a professor of Computer Science there as well. We live in an almost 100 year old arts & crafts cozy brick house in the picturesque suburbs in the beautiful Hudson Valley 50 mins away from New York City. We often have big chunks of time off from school and work (usually one month in winter and two months in summer). We are always planning our next home exchange in Europe or Central Asia. Our house is a smoke free environment. We have two hamsters in cages in the basement. They require minimum care and cause no allergies, but keep that in mind. We will treat your house with utmost respect and care! We are clean and tidy.
