General Overview
Our primary home is a bright and cozy craftsman in the Lincoln district of Tacoma, Washington. Child-friendly (we have a 2 and 4 year old) with lots of toys and games. Our home is 1.5 hour drive to the Paradise entrance of Mount Rainier National Park, 1 hour to great outdoor adventures in the Hood Canal, Port Gamble, Port Townsend, 30 miles to Seattle, or 2-3hrs to Olympic National Park! We are a nature loving outdoorsy family and have lots of gear you can borrow (camping supplies, life jackets etc) and an SUV for driving and going on hikes. Tacoma has a wonderful park on the Puget Sound that seals and orcas frequent called Point Defiance and Owen Beach, as well as many great playgrounds and restaurants and shops! Easy day trip to Vashon Island - a 10 minute ferry ride away.
The Space
We have an open living room/dining room with a sectional sofa, accent chair and TV with many streaming services. A record player with many records to use! Kitchen has a breakfast nook, all major large and small appliances and a well stocked pantry for cooking, which you are more than welcome to use. There is one main bedroom on first floor with a King bed, and one small bathroom in house with bathtub/shower. Upstairs we have two ‘children’s’ bedrooms, one with a twin bed that converts to a Queen bed, one with a crib and ample space for air mattresses and a nugget couch for extra sleep space. A small office/workout space includes a Pelaton bike and floor space for an air mattress if needed. Laundry machines in an unfinished basement. Lots of toys/games! Backyard has a patio with dining chairs, children’s toys/climbing and a fire pit - wood provided!
Guest Access
2 story 1500 sq ft home, one staircase to access upstairs bedrooms. Easy front door code access.
Notes
This is our primary home and we have young kids, so we never *guarantee* absolute perfection but we are neat and tidy people and will have the house professionally cleaned prior to guests! But you may find hot wheels hiding in unlikely spots :)

We really enjoyed our time in Brittany’s home and in the area around Tacoma. The home was comfortable and has a lot of character. The neighborhood was very quiet and welcoming. We enjoyed everything from hiking at Rainier National Park to the Museum of Glass, to pleasant walks after dinner at Point Defiance. It was a great jumping off point to explore the area before we headed up north and into Canada.
And side note…her coffee pot makes amazingly great coffee!!

Jodi and Dwight were the most perfect house guests for our first official exchange! They left the house absolutely spotless, made us a welcome home meal utilizing our garden, and took such great care of our home and plants. We couldn’t be more grateful that they were our first foray into exchanges! Excellent communication, and the most kind couple with a beautiful family!
