Neighbourhood

Starting from the house on foot, you can walk around; a path with cycle path leads to the village and allows you to take a walk along the stream. You can also climb to the Château de Crussol, with a magnificent view of the Rhône valley and the Vercors. We have plenty of guides and tourist information waiting for you! Desire for nature: many walks in the Ardèche mountains or in the Vercors, mountain bike trails (we have walk and bike guides). Canoeing possible on the Drôme or the Eyrieux. Visit of the Doux valley by railcar or vélorail. Magnificent caves: of course, the Chauvet cave, but also the Aven d'orgnac, or Choranche. Possibility to swim in the municipal swimming pool of Saint-Péray, in lakes (Lac de Champos) or in rivers (Drôme or Eyrieux) Fancy cultural visits: Valence is worth a visit, with its new museum, its canals. The Ideal Palace of the Postman Cheval, the castle of Madame de Sévigné in Grignan, many picturesque villages, including pottery villages (Dieulefit, Cliousclat)) Visits for children: the bird garden in Upie, the crocodile farm in Pierrelatte, and just next door, the Soyons cave with excavation workshops for children. Fancy gastronomy: we are obviously in a wine region (in Saint-Péray a delicious white wine is produced), but also production of fruits and vegetables, and local cheeses and charcuterie. Leaving our house by foot, you can walk or ride to the village and along the river, or up to Crussol Castle. From there, you'll have a beautiful point of view over the Rhône river and Vercors mountains. Looking for nature? You'll find many hiking and riding paths around, or in Ardèche mountains or Vercors. You can canoe in the Drôme or Eyrieux river. You can swimm in Saint-Péray in the public outdoor swimmingpool, or in Champos lake, or in nearby rivers. There are many beautiful caves to visit: most famous is the Caverne du Pont d’Arc (on UNESCO list), or Aven d’Orgnac, or Choranche. Looking for culture and quaint villages? Valencia is interesting, with its museum and canals. You can visit the Ideal Palace of the Cheval factor (a strange house build by a postman with things he picked up during his work), the Castle of Grignan, many stone house villages, some with potters (Dieulefit, Cliousclat). The city of Lyon is 1 hour away by car and is a must see! Visits for kids: birds garden in Upie, Crocodile farm in Pierrelatte, and very near, Soyons caves, in which kids can play archeologists and try to excavate... And of course, you'll have to taste our gastronomy! The excellent wines of Vallée du Rhône (including white wine in Saint-Péray!), tasty local fruits in summer, and local cheeses... You'll find all these products on local markets or in nice restaurants.

Getting around

To go shopping, you can go there by car, but also by bike, by the cycle path which leads to the village. The city bus passes at the end of the street and leads to Valence and its agglomeration (the Valence stations, for example). To go shopping, you can go by car, or by bike, on the cycle road, leading to our village. There's public transportation (buses) leaving from very near to go to Valence and around (for example, the train station in Valence).

We are a family of four with two boys (17 and 14). We like cultural trips, but also nature and sport. We are open to different cultures and curious about everything. To make you discover our beautiful region, we provide you with tourist guides, hiking guides and our ideas for visits. My husband (52) and I (47) are both teachers. My husband teaches history in high school and I teach in a primary school. We have two boys (17 and 14 years old). They are used to travel at other people's houses. We love cultural trips as well as sports and nature. We are very open to other cultures and love to meet other people.
