General Overview
We - my 16-year old and I - love our home. It is beautiful, relaxing and right in the heart of Geneva, just a 3 minute walk to public transport that will take you to the lake, the parks. the gorgeous old town, restaurants and shops within ten minutes and the UN only a 25 minute bus & tram ride away. The train station is an 18 minute busride away and from there, the whole of the Swiss Alps are only an 1h20 train ride away. Should you have a car, the French alps are even closer, starting at a 45 min drive from my place. Should you come by car, parking can likely be arranged.
The Space
Our apartment is bright and welcoming, with big east-facing windows that let in the morning sun most of the year. It’s on the ground floor and opens onto a small south-facing garden — a quiet green spot in a very leafy neighborhood. The building has a friendly feel, with shared spaces on each floor that people actually use.
The apartment has two separate bedrooms, a spacious living room, and an open kitchen, altogether about 68 m². The bathroom has both a bathtub — perfect after a chilly day out — and a raindrop shower with great water pressure. There’s a separate toilet as well.
The open-plan kitchen makes it easy to cook and chat at the same time. The dining table seats seven comfortably, and there’s a piano and a guitar if you’d like to play music.
The garden is one of our favorite parts of the home. In spring and again in summer, the wisteria covers the terrace in blue-purple flowers, and the small bench outside has a roof cover which makes it ideal for morning coffee or an evening drink, even when it rains. We have a table and garden chairs that comfortanbly seat four people. We also grow a few herbs and vegetables, which guests are welcome to use.
Everything is on one level — no stairs — and the apartment, as well as the building, is wheelchair accessible, though using the shower requires a bath transfer bench so that you can get in the bath, and a bath board.
Guest Access
Our appartment is on the groundfloor. No need to take stairs. The appartment building and our appartment are wheelchair accessible, however use of the shower in the bath requires a transfer and a bath board.
Notes
If you are curious to try aerial yoga, a hammock is there for you to play. Just dont do inversions without having been taught how to do them!

Elke
Hi, my name is Elke and I live in Geneva, together with my 17-year old son. This city has been my home for nearly 19 years, after having first moved from the Netherlands to the UK, Bangladesh, Canada, Hong Kong, Jamaica and Cambodia. I have worked in humanitarian action for the past 25 years, first in humanitarian mine action, and now to advance inclusion of marginalized groups, and my side kick is teaching yoga, using my physiotherapy skills, through donation-based classes that in part support a family living a challenged life in Uganda, as well as other persons-in-need I come across on my trails. So glad to have joined PLU and to become part of what seems to be an amazing community.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
