Neighbourhood

Chalet Shanti is nestled in the peaceful mountain surroundings of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, where dramatic peaks, waterfalls and beautiful trails invite you to explore. From gentle family walks in the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval and Gorges des Tines to challenging hikes towards alpine lakes and mountain refuges, the valley offers adventures for every pace. In summer, enjoy cycling along the Giffre, rafting, canyoning or the local via ferrata. Nearby Samoëns is lovely for a village stroll, a visit to the alpine botanical garden or a relaxing afternoon at the Lacs aux Dames. In winter, a ski bus just a few minutes’ walk from the chalet connects you to the Grand Massif lifts in Samoëns. The beginner slopes at Sixt are around 300 metres away, with opening dependent on snow conditions. Snowshoeing offers a quieter way to discover the valley. For everyday comforts, the village has Tiffany’s bakery for fresh bread and pastries, a Sherpa grocery shop and cosy Nunayak for delicious pizzas.

Elke

Hi, my name is Elke and I live in Geneva, together with my 18-year old son. This city has been my home for more than 20 years, after having first moved from the Netherlands to the UK, Bangladesh, Canada, Hong Kong, Jamaica and Cambodia. I have worked in humanitarian action for the past 25 years, first in humanitarian mine action, and now to advance inclusion of marginalized groups, and my side kick is teaching yoga, using my physiotherapy skills, through donation-based classes that in part support a family living a challenged life in Uganda, as well as other persons-in-need I come across on my trails. So glad to have joined PLU and to become part of what seems to be an amazing community.
