Neighbourhood

If you like canoeing this is the perfect place (you can borrow our canoe). If you prefer kayaking on the sea we can recommend to rent a sea kayak from our friends who owns Helgö Kajak outside Nyköping. http://www.paddling.se/ And for hiking we have in our county Sörmlandsleden, the Sörmland trail. It is more than 1000km long trail around Sörmland. it is divided into 100 sections with different distances. www.sormlandsleden.se Our neighbor village also offers shorter hiking tracks around beautiful wetlands. We have 2 adult bikes (28"+ 26")There are nice countryside roads to explore. In the winter you can go skating on the lake or skiing. We have some sizes of cross country skis and skates you can borrow. Closeby our village we have a nice but small ski slope where you can ski downhill and also rent skis. In our village we have a small grocery store, vegetable/ herb farmers market https://www.vrenagront.se/ , a small deli/ cafe and seasonal farmers market https://libinkagrikultur.se/ and at Vrena vilt (a local butcher) https://www.vrenaviltslakteri.se/ you can buy game meat as elk, deer, wild bore. You can book a tour with Vrenas own steamboat, Munter. You can also visit cafe Munterhuset, a café next to Munter. Visit Blaxta wineyard (15km from Vrena) and eat at their world class status restaurant and taste their wonderful wines. www.blaxtawine.se Nyköping is one of the oldest towns in Sweden. It has a nice harbour with restaurants. The area is beautiful with lot of nature and a wonderful archipelago. www.visitnykoping.se Also Oxelösund has a nice archipelago and wonderful nature to explore. www.visitoxelosund.se/___187.aspx There is also a fun adventure house for the whole family. 40 km south of Vrena you find Kolmården, a big ZOO, well worth visiting. www.kolmarden.com Stockholm, the capital city, is surrounded with water. It is very beautiful and offers lots to see and do. You can take a train to Stockholm from Nyköping (1 hour train ride) or take the car 1-1 1/2 hours depending were you are going. http://beta.stockholmtown.com/en/ www.cityguide.se Our children used to love to visit Vasa museum ( a big shipwreck that sank 1628 and was founded 300 years later) www.vasamuseet.se, Junibacken (a playful museum of Astrid Lindgrens characters as Pippi Longstocking) www.junibacken.se , Gröna Lund ( an amusement park) www.gronalund.com , Skansen (an open air museum and ZOO) www.skansen.se , the royal palace www.kungahuset.se and so many other things. Norrköping is a nice city to discover! In the heart of the city you’ll find our beautiful Industrial Landscape whose textile factories are long gone and beautiful buildings are now home to the university and creative companies, restaurants and a concert hall. Motala River's swirling water flows through the city – you can even fish in the centre of the city! There are lots of salmon, and if you’re lucky you may even see them spawn in the salmon ladder in Strömparken. https://upplev.norrkoping.se/en Of course Stockholm as well as Nyköping and Norrköping offers nice shopping.

Nearest airport

Stockholm Skavsta Airport (www.skavsta.se) is only 20 km away. Stockholm Arlanda airport is 156 km away (1h 45 min).

Getting around

There are busses from Vrena to Nyköping, Katrineholm and Flen. In the village you can walk or take the bike to the shop/beach/cafe/ farmers market
