Our home is over 100 years old. We live in a very historic area - it was originally New Zealand's main trading port, and was where many ships arrived from the UK to offload passengers. You can see the island where they quarantined in the harbour. A museum just a few blocks away tells the stories of that era.
We are a family home with toys and a trampoline, and a large section for kids to play. We have a garage.
Our fire and heat pump keep our home warm - most of our windows are triple glazed. Please note you would need to keep the fire going between about May and October, Dunedin is not tropical! 😅
There are excellent walks by the ocean or up through the bush very close by.
Dunedin City is a 15 minute beautiful harbour drive. Dunedin's peninsula is famous for wildlife including the albatross colony. There are wonderful museums and a brilliant art gallery in the city. Our city knows minimal traffic! If you're into sports or events, these are frequently held at the stadium which is at the start of the road to Port Chalmers. We are happy to swap cars in suitable situations.
There is a bus stop about two minutes walk away and a half hourly bus will take you into Dunedin for a minimal charge.
The cycleway from Port Chalmers to Dunedin is a truly wonderful asset.
The entrance is one minute walk from our house. It's an amazingly beautiful way to walk or bike to the city safely. We have scooters and a variety of bikes.
Port Chalmers is a working Port. There are a lot of interesting port activities to watch, and the cruise ships dock here. There's a lovely township with supermarket, cafes, library, pharmacy, craft beer speciality restaurant, gift shops and the famous Carey's Bay Hotel and restaurant.
The space
Living area with couch and seats by the fire. Lots of plants, books and games. Trampoline and large section to run and play in with slide, swings and monkey bars. We have a piano and drum kit.
Upstairs is a bedroom with a single bed, a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom with bunks. We have a sunny cabin with a pull out sofa bed too - could potentially sleep 1-2 more people there but only recommended in warmer months. Down external stairs is a laundry, second toilet and gym/climbing wall.
Guest access
External stairs. There is a step into the home at both entrances.

We are a family of 5, and I'm mum - Sally. My husband and I really want to show our kids a taste of the world while they're still living at home so PLU is the next step for us! We work in health and education.
