General Overview

Our home is a heritage cottage in the lovely leafy neighbourhood of Dunbar. It’s mostly a quiet residential area. It is a very short walk to the nearest bus stop just at corner of our street to go directly into Vancouver city centre or to the UBC campus. Nearby within walking distance, we have convenience, grocery and liquor stores, cafes and a few restaurants. The beautiful Pacific Spirit Regional Park (15mins walk) with an amazing network of trails for walking, running or cycling is about 15 mins walk through our quiet neighbourhood. We’re a short bus ride to the University of British Columbia campus.

The Space

Our home is on a quiet residential street, with a small green grassy lawn and large mature trees out front. You’ll find our entrance with a few steps up to the porch, where you can sit to relax in the morning filtered sun. Our home is older, yet comfortable, tidy and with heritage charm. We have the main two levels together with the ground floor suite, which can be combined or exchanged separately, as there is a lockable door between the two. Together, they offer 3 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. One is upstairs on the top level, and two on the ground floor. There is a full bathroom on each of the 3 levels. There are two living areas with the main being on the middle floor (also the main entrance level) with open plan living and dining, opening to a lovely deck outside overlooking the fully fenced grassy backyard. There is also another full bathroom on this level. From inside, there is a lovely green leafy outlook with mature trees in our street. The ground floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, plus its own kitchen and a small second living area with sofa. There is an internal lockable door between the house and the suite. See listing #59575 The laundry is located downstairs, between the house and the suite, so is a shared space.

Guest Access

Entrance into the house has 7 steps from street level. Inside, there are about 15 steps connecting each level of the home.

Notes

There is on street parking available in front of the house, and no problem in finding space. Depending on our own travel plans during anny exchange, our off street car space may be available. Our availability is typically only during BC school holiday periods.

Neighbourhood

A mostly leafy residential area, with neighbourhood shops nearby. Dunbar is an older Vancouver neighbourhood, mostly single family homes with neighbourhood shops on Dunbar street, and also nearby on W 16th Ave. Nearby is the large trail network in the Pacific Spirit Regional Park, the highly respected University of British Columbia campus, and neighbouring areas also include Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, West Point Grey and Arbutus Ridge. Within a 30minute walk (or 5mins drive) is Jericho beach, the Jericho sailing club, beach parks, Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and more! We also have a number of golf courses nearby, both public and private. Public courses include University Golf Club, Musqueam Golf and also McCleery Golf courses. Private clubs include Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club and Point Grey Golf and Country Club - and require memberships or reciprocal access to play. Within about 30mins, there are even more public golf clubs, such as Langara and Fraserview.

Getting to my home

Buses run regularly along Dunbar street or West 16th ave to downtown Vancouver, to access the waterfront, business district, galleries and downtown shopping areas.

Nearest airport

Closest airport is YVR - Vancouver international airport. It is approximately 25-30mins by car / uber, pending time of days

Getting Around

We have a great local grocery store, called Stongs, for all your needs. It is about 10mins walk away. Within 5 minutes walking distance is a Japanese restaurant, coffee shops, ice cream store, liquor store and Tim Hortons. There’s also a great Italian restaurant, and more shops a bit further on W 16th Ave, about 15mins walking.
