Neighbourhood
The house is part of a small community of townhomes within the small village of Salir do Porto on the Bay of Sao Martinho do Porto. There is a shared swimming pool directly across from our unit. The beach is about a 15 minute walk down the hill. The bay has very calm water, ideal for small children. Behind the house are walking/biking trails overlooking the Atlantic coast. There are a lot of opportunities for water sports such as surfing, SUP, kite surfing etc. There are also several golf resorts in Obidos a short drive away.
Getting to my home
Salir do Porto is a one hour drive from Lisbon airport. There are also direct buses from Sete Rios bus station to Caldas da Rainha and from Caldas, you can get a taxi to Salir.

Getting Around
A car is helpful, but not necessary. The village of Salir do Porto is small, but has a well-stocked minimercado that sells fresh breads, cheeses, meats and produce. There are also cafes and restaurants all within walking distance, however we live at the top of a fairly steep hill. Walking to the village and or the beach will require a heart-pumping walk back up the hill, but very do-able. The next town over is Sao Martinho do Porto, a larger village with more restaurants, shops and a daily produce and fish market. Caldas da Rainha is about a 15 minute drive and Obidos is about a 20 minute drive. Nazare is also about a 20 minute drive. There are bus stops a short walk from the house.
