General Overview

Our family home is located in Bonnyrigg, a town just outside of the Edinburgh City Bypass. We have a direct bus straight into the city centre.

The Space

Our beautiful family home is in the perfect location just outside (bit within exceptionally easy reach) of Edinburgh. Our detached home has: Ground floor - VERY open plan living. There are minimal doors here at all. The hall flows into the living room which flows into another area (which should be the dining room but is a children’s overflow area!). Back into the hall leads straight to the kitchen. From here there is a utility room with washer and dryer. Our garage is accessible from here however this is just for storage and will not be available to guests. There is an extension/conservatory accessed through the living areas which is our girls playroom. There’s also a WC on this floor. There is an additional room on this level which will likely not be available - it is our “Learning Room” for our home educated children. Our first floor has the following: Master bedroom - with superking bed and en-suite shower room. For couples/small families visiting, it’s likely this room won’t be made available. Additional master bedroom with king bed and en-suite shower room. Plenty of wardrobe storage and dressing table. Children’s bedroom - currently with a single mid-sleeper bed and a toddler bed with some side guards. Spare room - currently used as a home office and has a double bed. It’s a small room and a bit sparse. Will likely not be made available for small families or couples travelling. Family bathroom also on this level. We are happy to provide extra beds (travel cot, airbeds etc) but likely won’t want to cater to very large groups. We have a double drive for two cars. We also have an EV charger. We would discuss in advance how to charge for its usage. Our garden has a training swimming pool/swimspa. At the moment we aren’t very good at keeping up with a maintenance schedule and we are very concerned about safety so we would likely not make this available at the moment.

Guest Access

There is a ground and first floor. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor so stairs are essential.

Notes

We will likely make a few rooms unavailable: A room on the ground floor with some children’s books/educational stuff. The playroom, unless you’re travelling with children. Our master bedroom and en-suite unless you’re a larger family and we’ve agreed to allow its use. Our smaller spare bedroom unless we’ve agreed to its use.

Neighbourhood

Bonnyrigg is a small town in Midlothian, just outside Edinburgh. There’s a direct bus into the city centre leaving very frequently and throughout the night.

Getting Around

You can drive or use the bus. If visiting for Edinburgh would recommend bus travel only and leaving any car at our home.

Lisa

My family are me (Lisa) my husband (Martin) and daughters (Indie, 4 and Eden, 1). As we would be travelling with young children I won’t be able to consider really far away destinations at the moment or those that would require significant travel from an airport or multiple flights to reach you from Edinburgh. Actively looking to spend globes on UK city breaks easily accessible from Edinburgh. I would consider somewhere a bit further from end of 2027 and into 2028. Travel party would generally be the 4 of us but may sometimes just be me and the girls. Would also be great if there was the opportunity to bring a friend and her family, although for these times we would be limited to school holidays.
