Neighbourhood

Merchiston is in the suburb of St Martin's, situated right on the banks of the Heathcote River and at the base of the Port Hills, providing easy access to some beautiful walks and runs nearby. A five minute walk down the street is the local supermarket, one of the best in Christchurch for international food and specialist chocolate. There are several cafes, a pharmacy and a bookstore in the same neighborhood shopping area. For more retail it is a 15 minute drive into the centre of Christchurch to explore an area that has been rebuilt and revitalized after the earthquake 12 years ago. Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island so offers the usual city options, along with being the hub from greater Canterbury, which includes: Banks Pennisula, Lyttleton, Akaroa, the Southern Alps, the Canterbury Plains (my home), and Kaikoura.

Nearest airport

Christchurch International Airport is a 40minute drive from the house. The easiest way to get there is definitely by car.
