It’s one of those cities that feels both vibrant and peaceful at the same time, and our condo is designed to help you fully enjoy that feeling. --- ✨ Our home This is a full-floor condo on the 10th floor, so you have privacy, space, and truly special views from every angle. With elevator access and a reserved garage parking space, everything is easy and comfortable from the moment you arrive. The home itself is spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully designed for relaxing stays: - 4 comfortable bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom - 5.5 bathrooms total (including bidets in 3) - Heated floors in bedrooms and bathrooms (a small luxury you’ll quickly love) - Ceiling fans in the bedrooms for those who enjoy extra airflow - A warm fireplace for cooler evenings - Separate TV/family room—perfect for unwinding after a day out It’s the kind of place where you can spread out, settle in, and feel at home right away. --- 🌅 The Terrace The heart of the home is the large private terrace—and it’s where we will spend most of our time. It’s: - Beautiful and historic, with rivers and colonial architecture - Walkable, relaxed, and very welcoming - Full of culture—art, music, markets, and great food - Cuenca is regularly recognized as one of the safest cities in South America and Ecuador And one of the biggest surprises? The climate. Sitting at 8,399 feet/ 2,500 meters above sea level - Cuenca enjoys a spring-like temperature year-round, with mild days and cool evenings—no extremes, just comfortable living all year. Just make sure to wear your sunscreen as the UV index is quite high due to the proximity to the equator + altitude. --- 🌿 Close to nature One of the things we love most is how easy it is to get out into nature: - Cajas National Park (30–45 min): lakes, hiking, incredible landscapes - Baños de Cuenca: thermal baths, spa treatments, and relaxing day trips - Waterfalls, scenic drives, and fresh mountain air all around ✈️ Easy Galápagos access (NEW ✨) As of March 2026, there are now direct flights from Cuenca to the Galápagos a couple of times per week. The Space

I think I covered most of it in the General Overview. We are extremely excited to complete this home and get it ready for visitors! This combination of privacy, spectacular views, space, indoor/outdoor living and detail will make any trip to Cuenca unforgettable.

Guest Access

Our condo encompasses the entire 10th floor. There will be 24 hour security upon entrance to the building.

Notes

We are a “no shoes” household and do request that all outdoor footwear is left by the front door.

Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood is just south west of the historic center. We have a great, modern grocery store about a 15 minutes walk from our condo. One of the largest parks in the city is about a 7 minutes walk to the south of us. The new Mall del Alto is a 20 minutes walk and is anticipated to be the best mall in Ecuador (opening May 2026) complete with everything from Go-Kart racing, bowling, movie theatre, upscale and food court dining, and over 200 stores.

Getting to my home

The easiest way will be to take an Uber or taxi from the Airport. Approximately 20 minutes (depending on traffic) and usually $3-4.50 depending on traffic.

Nearest airport

The Mariscal Lamar National Airport (Cuenca Airport) is approximately 20 minutes in a taxi/uber (typically around $4 USD as of April 2026).

Getting Around

Cuenca is a very walkable city so we usually walk whenever we can.. Ubers/Taxis are very inexpensive, plentiful and we can usually get across the city in less than 20 minutes and less than $5 USD. The Tranvia is also a wonderful (clean, safe, and easy )way to get into the historical city center as are the buses once you get the hang of them. The buses are currently .35 US cents and the tranvia is .35 cents with a Tranvia card or $1 USD with cash at the stops. Seniors and under 18 minors are only .17 cents with the Tranvia card.

Elizabeth

We are a family of four who have made a new home in Costa Rica since 2019. Elizabeth, a former spa owner, and Dave, a corporate attorney able to work remotely, and our two pre-teen/teen children (one piano/tennis player and one fitness/Fortnite enthusiast). We are taking 14 months to travel the world. We love to explore both cities and more remote locations and try all of the local foods wherever we go.
