General Overview

- beautiful, bright, very comfortable and spacious villa, built in 1938, two renovated and interconnected living areas - Modern, almost purist style, but the traditional charm of the original atmosphere revived - luxurious covered wooden terrace with swing - only 6 km or 20 minutes to the heart of Berlin - safe neighborhood with idyllic lakes, public sandy beach on the beautiful Orankesee (only 200 m walk), park and nature reserve

The Space

Our house is large (240 m²) and has two living levels connected by an open gallery. Our garden is spacious and well maintained with beautiful mature trees and shrubs, perfect for relaxing in the hammock, on the patio or lawn, or grilling on our Napoleon gas grill. Have you ever had dinner with a table fire? Our living room offers a high-quality couch set (Rolf Benz). A Tempur mattress with an electrified frame in the master bedroom relieves back pain. In the kitchen and bathroom you will find wooden parquet floors or tiles with underfloor heating. We have a piano to play with and a great record fireplace in the hallway, cozy for fall or winter! Wood is at your disposal. Our house is very suitable for a family with children, they will find some attractions in the house and garden (toys and bicycles), but you may find that our terrace does not have a railing (more suitable for children aged 4+ years). We love our floor-heated kitchen fully and very comfortably equipped (high-quality dishwasher, induction stove and oven, steamer, food processor, espresso machine), which is located in a former conservatory (it's like cooking in the garden). Sonos sound system for perfect sound, Amazon Prime. Height-adjustable desk for comfortable work in the home office. We have installed security cameras at our house entrances (front door, patio door and garage) as well as at chicken coop. In the basement you will find a washing machine and dryer as well as a workshop. We offer a great elliptical trainer for workouts, bikes and yoga equipment. Two years ago we got three beautiful chickens that live in our garden. We want our exchange partner to take care of it. They are very easy to care for, you only have to feed them once a day and then let them in and out. As a reward, there are fresh eggs, which are super tasty. If you can't take care of them, we'll find another solution. Our house is suitable for house dust allergy sufferers and very clean. I have ticked "carpet-free" in the allergy box, as we have very few carpets that can be removed if desired. A cleaning service is possible by appointment (60 €) and mandatory for stays longer than 14 days. A car exchange is also possible by arrangement.

Guest Access

Two living levels are connected by an open gallery, a spacious garden and a cellar. Our separate attic is not normally included with sim swaps (please let us know if you require this extra space).

Notes

We've prepared a comprehensive guide with personal recommendations for restaurants, shopping, places to visit and our favourites. Our garden appreciates watering plants and lawns in the summer.

Neighbourhood

Perfect combination of idyllic suburban tranquility, parks, nature reserve (running track), sports area, public beaches and lakes, but only 20 minutes. By public transport to the city center (Alexanderplatz). Don't miss the Mies van der Rohe House and the Hohenschönhausen Monument. Historical interest: We live in the former East! The sparkling Prenzlauer Berg is very close to our neighborhood and is easily accessible by public transport in 15 minutes, where you will find many cafes and restaurants. We have good tips for you on where to go as we have lived there for years. Berlin is amazing and full of sights, museums, theaters, opera, shopping, restaurants, sporting events, street life: a single excursion is not enough... Get to know the people, feel the atmosphere. You can reach all places and sights by public transport. Berlin is a safe place and easy to manage for families with children. Our neighbors are very friendly and open-minded and meet with our exchange partners if they wish.

Getting to my home

Berlin is well connected by a very good public transport network. Two tram stops are 250 and 500 m away and lead to the city center (Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt, Mitte), Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichsfelde (about 20 minutes).

BER / SFX, approx. 40 minutes by taxi or public transport approx. one hour

Getting Around

Public transport is easy to use and the nearest tram stop is only 250 m from our house. Tier and Voi e-scooters and eBikes are available right in our street for easy access and movement. We will be happy to provide you with our bicycles on request. Shops, bakeries and a food market are just a short walk or drive away. Addresses and descriptions can be found in our extensive manual and map. A car exchange is possible by arrangement.
