General Overview

In Breitbrunn, you will find peace, beautiful nature, and an ideal starting point for sports activities on the north shore of Lake Chiemsee with views of the Alps.

Sailing on the Chiemsee, cycling on one of the many bike paths, swimming in the Chiemsee or Langbürgner See or another one of the many small lakes in the region. Or you can hike up one of our mountains and admire the lake from above.

Visit the islands on Lake Chiemsee: Herrenchiemsee with King Louis II 's castle or Fraueninsel with its monastery and tiny village.

For day trips you can visit Salzburg or Munich. There's an hourly train connection each way from Prien.

The Space

This is my family home. Today it's divided into three apartments. Mine has a big and bright living room and two bedrooms, one with a big double bed and the other one with a single and a bunk bed. The kitchen is a bit rustic, but fully functioning of course, however there's no dishwasher.

We also enjoy very much the two terraces and the beautiful garden with fruit, veggies  and flowers.

Neighbourhood

Breitbrunn is a small village on the north shore of lake Chiemsee with a great view over the lake and the mountains. There' s a restaurant, a doctor and even a dentist, but unfornately no supermarket anymore. So a car would be helpful. Otherwise there's a bus every hour that takes you to Prien with loads of shopping opportunities. But the most beautiful here is Breitbrunn' s long shore line with views over the lake into the mountains.

Getting to my home

Closest airport is Munich (90 km). The train takes you every hour to Prien am Chiemsee where you can catch a bus to Breitbrunn.

Easiest would be by car. Breitbrunn is located between Salzburg and Munich and 20 minutes by car from highway "A8 München Salzburg" exit Bernau. The train in both directions - Salzburg and Munich -  runs every hour.

Nearest airport

Closest airport is Munich (90 km by car). The S-train takes 45 min to München Ostbahnhof. From there you catch the hourly train takes to Prien am Chiemsee (1 h) where you can catch a bus to Breitbrunn (20 min).

Getting Around

Shops are between five and ten minutes by car.
If you don' t come by car, a bus takes you every hour to Prien am Chiemsee. If I am around I could drive you.

We had the pleasure of hosting Chiara at our home for a few days, and absolutely loved it! We wanted to catch up with Chiara since we couldn’t meet her in Munich last time we visited, and her coming to our home in Berlin, made that possible. She’s an incredible person, very warm, friendly and very smart! We loved listening to her experiences and sharing our experiences with her. We’d happily host her again, and highly recommend her as a guest!

We concluded our first hospitality stay and had the pleasure of hosting Uli and her daughter Chiara at our home in Berlin. Our experience with the hospitality was absolutely amazing! Uli and Chiara are both wonderful human beings and we loved spending time with them. Since they’ve left, our home sort of feels empty. We felt like a family with Uli and Chiara, and looked forward to interacting with them everyday! We wish Uli and Chiara more adventures and hope that our paths will cross again in future!

Settling our non-sim exchange with Uli went fast and smooth. I sent an email, we had a nice video-chat and we settled the agreement. We send some whatsapp messages back and fort before our exchange and during her stay. Uli left our house in a very good condition and left amazing honey and flowers for us! So sweet! Our pets were well cared for and we felt secure and safe with Uli in our house. We hope to visit Uli's place in Munich in the future!

Uli's daughter Chiara stayed with us for a hospitality stay whilst she sourced accomodation for University here on the Sunshine Coast. We loved having Chiara in our house and we were a bit sad to see her go. She is such an interesting, polite, and warm person, and would welcome Chiara or her family to stay with us if they ever visit Australia in the future.

The communication with Uli was great, starting from our very first video chat. She had a genius recommendation for us to get Deutschland tickets that wound up being a fraction of the cost of paying for daily trips on the metro, buses, and regional trains everywhere, and even getting to Salzburg. We stayed in touch with Uli leading up to our stay and felt very comfortable and excited going to stay at her flat while she and her sister came to stay at ours. We saw each other briefly at the airport as we took the same plane they arrived in. Throughout our exchange Uli was very quick to answer any questions we had and always had great ideas for us. We had the luck to meet Uli’s daughter Chiara and explore the picturesque Castle Herrenchiemsee together, as well as the nearby island while having the best apple strudel and hand made marzipan we have ever tried. Chiara was the sweetest, just like her mom, and just as helpful. We had a chance to spend some time with Uli before heading back home. We explored a beautiful monastery together with an adjacent brewery and huge, delicious pretzels. As a bonus, we also checked out Starnberg lake and town, and finally tasted a unique Bavarian dessert we have heard of, but haven’t tried yet (kaiserschmarrn). On our last day, Uli was very kind to take us to the metro station in her car. Uli took amazing care of our home. When we got back, it’s almost like no one had stayed here, except there were some gifts on the table and a thoughtful thank you note.

Hi, I am a freelance teacher, at the moment mostly working  from home. My two adult kids are both going to university out of town and staying with me most weekends.

We love to explore new places, hiking in the mountains or spending time at the water. We enjoy cities as well as the country side. Looking forward to new adventures!
