General Overview
Our home is a compact, comfortable apartment on Hong Kong Island, located in an exceptionally well-connected area. What makes living here special is the sheer range of experiences that are easily accessible. Within around 30 minutes, you can be hiking on The Peak, walking through forested trails, swimming at a beach, shopping in Central, or sitting in a neighbourhood café. Hong Kong is a uniquely layered city, and this location makes it easy to enjoy both its natural and urban sides without long journeys or complicated logistics.
The Space
The apartment accommodates up to four guests. There is a main bedroom with a king-size bed, and a child’s bedroom with a single bed and a pull-out single trundle, suitable for two children or adults comfortable with single beds.
As is typical in Hong Kong, the apartment is compact by international standards (approximately 770 sq ft), but it is thoughtfully organised. The kitchen is fully equipped with all essentials for home cooking, including a versatile countertop oven that can bake, grill, and steam—useful if you would like a break from eating out.
For families, our daughter’s room includes children’s books, toys, Lego, stationery, and soft toys, which guests are welcome to use.
Guest Access
Guests collect the apartment key from reception or our mailbox. The building has 24-hour security at the main entrance and at each tower. A security card is required to access the building and lifts at all times.
The apartment has step-free access, with lift access directly to our floor.
Notes
We like to keep shoes outside or in the cupboard just inside the front door to help to keep floors clean. No smoking is allowed inside the building.

Neighbourhood
Our home is located between Kennedy Town and the HKU/Sai Ying Pun area, offering a relaxed, family-friendly neighbourhood with excellent access to the rest of Hong Kong. The area combines older Hong Kong character with a modern café and restaurant scene, including bakeries, independent coffee shops, and a wide range of casual dining options, all within easy walking distance.
For families, there are several nearby outdoor spaces. A short walk away is Sai Ying Pun Waterfront Park, a recently opened children’s play area with a small beach section, slide, climbing wall, and excellent ocean views. It is a great space for younger children to play while adults enjoy the harbourfront setting. The Central and Western District Promenade is also close by, providing a flat, continuous waterfront path ideal for walking, scooters, or prams.
Nearest airport
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is the nearest airport. The simplest option is a red Hong Kong taxi, which can be taken directly from the official taxi rank outside the arrivals hall. The journey typically takes 30–40 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs approximately HKD $200–300.
Alternatively, you can take the Airport Express to Central, then transfer by taxi or MTR to the HKU area. Direct airport buses to Kennedy Town are also available and stop nearby. Overall, arrival is straightforward, with several easy options depending on preference.
Getting Around
One of the strongest features of this home is how easy it is to get around. The apartment is immediately next to HKU MTR station, with step-free access via lifts and no hills or long walks. It is also located directly on Pok Fu Lam Road, one of Hong Kong Island’s main bus corridors, with very frequent services.
From here, you can travel:
South to Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, or Stanley beaches in 30–45 minutes
East to Central and the Mid-Levels in 15–20 minutes
North to Kowloon and Mong Kok for markets, street food, and late-night shopping
Buses run constantly, the MTR is fast and reliable, and taxis are plentiful and reasonably priced. Uber also works well in this area, giving guests multiple transport options throughout the day.

Our building is a few minutes walk from Belcher Bay Promendade in Kennedy Town. This is the beginning of a 10k walking trail along the harbourfront of HK island.
Lovely spring sunsets at Belcher Bay promenade.
