General Overview

Welcome to our home on Hong Kong Island — a compact, comfortable apartment in an exceptionally well-connected location. What we love most about living here is how effortless it is to explore the city and beyond. From our front door, you can be hiking in the hills, relaxing on a sandy beach, or shopping in Central within 30 minutes! Hong Kong Island offers something for everyone: nature, culture, food, and energy. We are right in the middle of it all and would love to share our favourite places with you.

The Space

Our apartment accommodates up to four guests, with a spacious main bedroom featuring a king-size bed and a child’s bedroom with a single bed and a pull-out single trundle. As is typical in Hong Kong, the apartment is compact by international standards (approximately 770 sq ft), but it is thoughtfully organised. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with all the essentials for home cooking, including a versatile countertop oven that can bake, grill, and steam—perfect if you fancy a break from dim sum and eating out and want to eat at home. For families, our daughter’s room is well-stocked with children’s books, toys, Lego, stationery, and soft toys. We are also happy to leave out beach toys and a beach mat on request.

Guest Access

We have 24-hour security on the entry gates and at the bottom of each tower. You will have to use our security card to beep yourselves in at all times. We have step-free access to the apartment and lift access to our floor.

Notes

We like to keep shoes outside or in the cupboard just inside the front door to help to keep floors clean. No smoking is allowed inside the building.

Neighbourhood

Our home is perfectly tucked between Kennedy Town and the HKU area, giving you the best of both worlds: a lively local neighbourhood with easy access to the city’s main attractions. We love the unique energy here - it’s a blend of old Hong Kong charm and a vibrant modern scene, complete with craft coffee/bakeries, local cafés, and lots of different restaurants. For those who love the outdoors, we are just a 10-minute stroll from the Central and Western Promenade. It’s one of our favourite spots, offering a 13km continuous path along the harbourfront for running, jogging, or a sunset walk with what we believe is one of the best views in the world! If you prefer the hills, there are beautiful green hiking trails and hillside walks accessible right from our doorstep. Getting around is completely stress-free; with the MTR, buses, taxis, and the iconic "Ding Ding" tram all close by, the rest of Hong Kong Island is at your fingertips. https://www.timeout.com/hong-kong/things-to-do/kennedy-town-ultimate-guide https://www.timeout.com/hong-kong/news/sheung-wan-ranks-top-in-asia-as-one-of-the-coolest-neighbourhoods-in-the-world-101723 https://www.timeout.com/hong-kong/things-to-do/sai-ying-pun-ultimate-guide

Getting to my home

Getting here from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is very straightforward. A 30–40 minute taxi or Uber ride will bring you directly to Pok Fu Lam Road and the apartment. Alternatively, you can take the Airport Express train to Central, then either a short taxi ride or change to the Island Line MTR to reach the HKU area. There are also direct airport buses to Kennedy Town, which stop nearby, although we have not used this option ourselves. With several easy transport choices, arriving is simple and stress-free.

Getting Around

One of the biggest advantages of our neighbourhood is how exceptionally well connected it is. The apartment is immediately next to HKU MTR station, with step-free access via lifts and no hills or long walks, and sits directly on Pok Fu Lam Road, one of Hong Kong Island’s main transport routes with very frequent buses. From here, you can travel south to the beaches of Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, and Stanley in 30–45 minutes, east to Central and the Mid-Levels in 15–20 minutes, or north to Kowloon and Mong Kok for late-night shopping, street food, and 24-hour city energy. Buses run constantly along Pok Fu Lam Road, making beach trips and city journeys effortless. The nearby MTR provides fast, reliable access across the island, and Central is just 15 minutes away by metro, bus, or taxi. Taxis are plentiful, convenient, and reasonably priced, and Uber also works well in this area, giving you plenty of transport options at all times of day.
