Neighbourhood
Leysin is a quiet village on top of a Swiss alp, facing south for wonderful light. It's known as a very sporty village with a variety of options: skiing, hiking, paragliding, mountain biking, and even a year round large ice skating rink. Or head down to Lake Geneva for swimming, sailing or SUP! Being a tourist and boarding school town, most people speak English which can be helpful. More info here:

And if you want some culture, Lausanne and Geneva are close by via easy train rides. The famous Lac Leman (AKA Lake Geneva) is just at the foot of the mountain, about 20 mins by train. The lake beaches there are lovely! The one by Chateau de Chillion is my personal favorite :-)

Getting around
Leysin is a true Swiss mountain village. It's known to be a sporty town for all seasons, where 3 Olympic medalists live! The streets are very safe to walk on, and will definitely keep you in good shape! There is a free shuttle that stops near the chalet (2 min walk) that does a circuit around town. E-bikes (street) and mountain bikes (off road) are very popular here. There is a local taxi service if needed.
