General overview

Our house has the feel of a cabin near the woods although it is 15 minutes by car to the centre of Helsinki. It has all the comfort of a modern house, a large terrace, a lovely garden with a vegetable patch and a greenhouse.

We are 200 meters from the forest where you can go berry picking or running and cycling on its many paths. The sea is 5km away, and there are beautiful beaches and cafés, lots of walking paths and boat trips to the Espoo archipelago where you can visit small islands for the day.

There is a shop 15 minutes walk from the house and a shopping centre with restaurants and cinemas 4km away. A bus stop 2 minutes from the house leads you to the metro to Helsinki or straight to the shopping centre close to home.

In the summer, you can also use our bicycles (2 adults and 1 child). In the winter you can borrow our sleighs to go down hills right next to our house.

We have some warm coats and snow trousers you can borrow, and lots of hats, gloves and scarves if you feel cold :-) Inside the house, we like to stay warm and we keep an indoor temperature of 22 degrees in the winter (we have geothermal floor heating).

The space

There is a very big open space room opening to a terrace and the garden, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sauna.

Guest access

There are a few steps to get from the parking to the front door, and then the house is all on one level.

Notes

You don't need a car to get around, but having one will enable you to see more sights. We can swap cars if you are interested.

Very quiet residential neighbourhood, right by a big forest with lots of walking and cycling paths. The sea is 5km away, and Helsinki is 15mn away by car.

Getting to my home

You can take a taxi from the airport, it will cost approximately 50€. You can also take the train and metro, but it will take you much longer.

You can walk to the nearest shop, and there is a big shopping centre 5km from the house, which you can reach by bus.

Feedback

We had such a smooth and easy exchange with Eliza + family. We loved being in their home surrounded by trees. We popped into Helsinki a few times by uber which was easy and borrowed their bikes for a ride to the beach and trips to the grocery store. All in all great spot!
