Neighbourhood
The neighbourhood is wild, beautiful, and quite rural.
We have many fabulous local friends who are likeminded and would love to make your acquaintance or offer help with anything if you wish.
The main town of Huonville is approx 15 mins drive away. You’ll find a couple of supermarkets and all other amenities you need.
We are approx 4 km along a well graded unsealed road.
There are many beautiful natural attractions, mountains to climb, National Parks and local villages to explore.
Getting to my home
You will most likely need a hire car.
You may also be able to borrow our 5 seater 2022 Subaru Forester.
The road is unsealed, but well maintenance by the local council. Our house is approx 4km (2.5miles) along.
Nearest airport
Fly into Hobart airport. The house is a 1 hour drive South. We are more than happy to arrange a pick up from the airport or there is a bus from Hobart to Huonville.
Getting around
You will most likely need a hire car.
You may be able to borrow our 5 seater 2022 Subaru Forester.
An Uber or taxi from Hobart airport is approx $120.
Ali and Paul were the most friendly and lovely hosts welcoming us into their beautiful home with a delicious home cooked meal. We stayed in the studio which was very comfortable with a wonderful large bed and good linen.
The house is located in an unspoilt valley with amazing views and peaceful surroundings yet only a shirt distance to shops in Huonville. We walked along the gravel road alongside the river as a very pleasant way to chat with Ali and Paul.
A highlight was an hours drive through the forest to hike to some of the tallest trees on the planet!
Thank you so much Ali and Paul. We really enjoyed meeting you and appreciate you hosting a mini PLU meet up as well.
Thank you very much Ali and Paul for the wonderful stay at your home.
We did so much enjoy the views, the peaceful atmosphere and the nature around your house. Your concept of growing own veggies, having hens, sheep and cows that live a happy life was such a good experience, especially for our son.
You have been perfect hosts, always in good contact, giving us all the support we needed when I had some health issues. And we did so much enjoy our get-togethers!
Judbury is a perfect spot for a few calm days in nature, paired with day-trips to Hobart and all the sights around there.
We hope we can host you while you are in Europe!
Hi Anita,
Thank you for the lovely feedback.
It truly was a joy to meet you all.
I had a great girls road-trip with you in to Hobart, even though it was for a medical appointment.
Take cate and enjoy the rest of your Australia trip. Hope to see you next year!
Ali and Paul 🌼😃
Alison and I regularly communicated and I felt as if I were visiting a friend by the time we arrived. It simply is breathtaking. Never before had I stayed anywhere with such views and was more than happy to enjoy a drink in the beautiful terraces.
Our daughter and grandson stayed in the one bed studio and there is also a two bed apartment. We stayed in the main house, which was so comfortable.
Plenty to do in the area and lots of wildlife too. We spotted wallabies and a Tasmanian devil nipping about.
If you get the chance to stay here then don’t hesitate. Truly unforgettable
Thanks Alison and Paul xxx
Alison and Paul were the most delightful hosts. Our West Wing of their home was private, comfortable and welcoming. The Huon Valley is a beautiful area of Tasmania, with tranquility, nature & history at every turn.
A great area to use as a base to discover the Huon Valley.
Thank you Alison and Paul for making us so welcome with all the little special extras and your great company. Sandra & reg.
It was the best exchange ! Ali and Paul are such nice people!!! When we arrived late they even made us spaghetti Bolognese and fresh baked bread and they welcomed us with a full fridge . We had dinner together a few times and they gave us fresh vegetables from their garden and it was just absolutely great ! We had great conversations and they loved our little girl. The apartment was perfectly clean and we felt very comfortable! Thanks so much again
We had a wonderful relaxing time in Alison & Paul’s home .
The home is welcoming and cozy , just like it’s hosts
It’s is close to the sites of Huonville for day tripping or just a lovely spot to stop and relax in .
It was lovely to meet Alison & Paul and look forward to doing another exchange with them in the future 😊
Paul and Ali were wonderful guests who stayed in my home while visiting their family. From the start, Ali was excellent to communicate with—always prompt, courteous, and clear in her responses, which made coordinating their stay very easy.
During their visit, they took great care of the house and left everything in perfect condition. It was an absolute joy to have them, and I highly recommend them to any host. I would gladly welcome them back anytime
Paul had his license to drive our motorhome, so we met at their home and did an easy swap for them to travel in it at their leisure.
They looked after it , even washing in before return :)
Look forward to doing another swap with them again in the future 😊
We had a fantastic 5-day stay at Russell’s beautiful Gold Coast home.
It was the perfect place to relax, visit family, and soak up the warm Queensland sunshine.
Russell’s home was very comfortable and clean. We couldn’t have asked for more!
The location was convenient, with everything we needed nearby, and a pleasant 20-minute walk to the large shopping centre at Robina with loads of shops, restaurants and cinema’s.
It was our absolute pleasure to welcome Carey and Peter.
We loved sharing a meal with them when they first arrived. They are such a lovely, warm couple, we immediately felt at ease. So much so, we all enjoyed a couple of local walks together, plus hosting a mini PLU meet-up was a joy!
They stayed in The Studio, which is a private self catering section of the main house. They loved the big bed and quality linen.
They were great sports when one of the Studio’s lower kitchen cupboard shelves mysteriously decided to fall down with an almighty crash in the middle of the night 😱. NB shelf is now fixed 😃👍
They left everything in the Studio in perfect order, along with a beautiful card thanking us.
The valley's serene beauty is something special, and we're elated they had the chance to explore.
Finding the tallest flowering tree’s on the planet would have been a highlight!
It was great to meet them, and we very much look forward to seeing them again when we head across the ditch to New Zealand one of these days.
Anita, Matthias, and Simon were gems during their hospitality stay.
Their warmth and organisation were evident from the moment they arrived.
They left their space spotless, and sharing a meal with them was a highlight.
We are so pleased they had a chance to explore some beautiful local areas.
Since they are travelling for a few months it was also nice for them to relax and recharge their batteries too.
We would gladly welcome them back anytime, and wholeheartedly endorse them as exchange partners.
Here's to hoping our paths cross again during our travels!
Liz, Max, daughter Sophie and adorable grandson Leo stayed at ours for a few nights. It was wonderful to meet them (albeit briefly) before I headed off on a mini holiday of my own.
They left our place spic and span 🙏 plus some lovely sunset pics of their stay along with a video of little Leo feeding the chickens and sheep. His little laugh is so cute 🥰
We look forward catching up again and staying at theirs when we head to UK later this year 🤩
It was sensational to meet Sandra and Reg! Such a warm and friendly couple and a wealth of knowledge about all things house exchanging.
They left everything in the house spic and span. We look forward to staying at their beautiful place in Agnes Water on day.
It was our absolute pleasure to have Katharina, Moritz and lovely little Leni stay at our house. It was a hospitality/non-simultaneous exchange.
Being our first PLU non-sum exchange we couldn’t have asked for better! They are an AMAZING young couple and their little one Leni is a delight 💕
They had their own private area in our house. We respected each others privacy, but also got together many times for meals, chats and laughs.
We couldn’t have asked for friendlier, kinder, funner, positive and helpful people. They left everything so very clean and tidy too.
Moritz even helped us stack 100’s of our hay bales into our shed, and Kathi made the YUMMIEST garlicky aioli ever!
We look forward to staying in their apartment in 2024, but much more to catch up with them again!
Loved every minute of it 😃
Pauline and Cameron’s luxury motorhome was nothing short of amazing.
Being able to stay in a spectacular remote location and have a comfortable (deluxe) space to enjoy after a day’s exploration was the best!
We were so pleased they allowed us to take our pooch Janet along with us too.
We loved every minute! Thanks guys :-)
Pauline, Cameron and friends looked after our hens and our house so well. They were kind, fun l, friendly & helpful. They left everything spic and span!
It was great to have the opportunity to meet such lovely people.
