Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, with large ponderosa pine trees, a playground across the street, a dog park just past the playground, and Overturf Butte with hiking trails is right there as well. Phil's Trails, a network of trails for mountain bikers, is just 2 miles from our home.

Getting Around
You can walk from our home to many restaurants, bakeries, cafes, coffee shops, and pubs! Safeway grocery is a mile away, the ice rink also a mile, downtown Bend is less than a mile. Uber and Lyft both operate in town and there is a bus system that stops a few blocks away. There is an inexpensive shuttle to Mt. Bachelor a mile away. You will need a car.

We had such a lovely stay in Bend at Pat’s. The house was beautiful and in a lovely neighborhood with a park and trails across the street. The house was immaculate with a beautifully landscaped yard. Pat was easy and quick to communicate even though she was halfway around the world at the time. I am hoping to come back again this Winter!
Pat's house is the perfect place to explore Bend. Central but very calm. It's a big house, so you can visit with friends (like we did) or family. Kids loved the house: there is a trampoline, cickens , a huge TV room and even a hidden closet ! Bend is a great destination if you like the outdoors. You can float down the river (Pat has flooties!) , you can find beautiful hikes, lakes to swim, waterfalls to jump down the cliffs. And if you like foodtrucks and beers, Bend is the place to be! Pat is the kindest host, always ready to help and it's very easy to communicate with her. Very recommended exhange and destination!
Pat's home was the perfect spot for my husband and I plus she was so accommodating...even leaving for her other home to work with our dates. She has a wonderful welcome book with recommendations, and was readily available with questions about where to eat and what to do.
Our experience with Pat and her daughter was exceptional from the very first message. They are curious, respectful travelers with communication that was always easy and smooth. Staying in touch every day became a real joy for us. We loved sharing recommendations and watching the delight with which they explored each corner of the city.
During their stay, they were considerate in every way, cared for our home with affection and left everything in perfect condition. It is a pleasure to welcome guests who are so observant, sensitive and enthusiastic about art, food and long city walks.
Mexico City truly surprised them, and they still have unfinished plans. The UNAM campus is waiting for their next visit, and so are we in Malinalco, where they can enjoy another side of Mexico surrounded by nature, archaeology and calm.
We recommend Pat and her daughter wholeheartedly. They are extraordinary guests, and it would be a pleasure to welcome them again.
Thank you, Pat, for your trust, your curiosity and the warmth with which you looked at Mexico
It was an absolute pleasure to host Pat and her daughters at our home. We had great communication throughout the exchange. They looked after Luna the dog very well and I’m sure she enjoyed being with them. We arrived back to a spotless house and would very happily exchange with them again. The whole exchange went seamlessly and I can thoroughly recommend Pat and her family to other exchangers. I hope we get to meet one day in person.
We have done nearly 100 exchanges on 2 platforms and this one rates among the top 5! For many reasons......a truly beautiful unique home, the nicest hostess who provided lots of support and advice, and one of the world's largest cities with so much to do that you have to come back!
Carla contacted me when I posted in the Facebook group that one of my daughters and I were looking to come to Mexico City and we quickly worked out the details of the exchange. Through the next few weeks we communicated frequently and I felt we were friends before we ever got to Mexico.
We spent 3 nights in a hotel in Mexico City before heading out to Carla's home to meet her and her very nice family before they left. Got a quick tour and introductions to household staff and then they were off and we found ourselves in this absolutely beautiful custom house, one of the very nicest houses we have ever been in! Beautiful and comfortable, great design and layout, local materials....just fantastic. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The helper was super sweet and kind and I liked talking with her via Google Translate.
Carla gave us tons of good advice on what to do on a daily basis, we used her preferred Uber driver (Luis) or their driver every day to get into the city or to the Cablebus station, and we walked or used Ubers in the city. Luis was a great driver! We are big on walking, and 10 miles a day was our average. We took the Cablebus in to the city and back twice, loved that, it was so fun. Uber is very inexpensive and easy to use. The cost of admissions and food was also very inexpensive.
Carla's recommendations on where to go and when and how all reflected her extensive local knowledge and also her pride in her country and culture. I learned a lot from her about Mexico on this trip, especially that Mexico is far more than what we tend to hear about. Mexico City is vibrant and cosmopolitan and European and full of great food and art and museums and huge buildings and markets and sights.
We visited each of the 9 major neighborhoods in Mexico City, took a canal ride in Xochimlico, went to the famous market at San Angel, toured the Museo Jumex and Friday Kahlo Museo, and went to Teotihuacan (pyramid complex), the Templo Mayor, the huge Cathedral in the historic center, and many other places.
We look forward to returning someday, and to visiting their other beautiful home as well.
I had a lovely stay at Peter and Layne's home in Prescott Valley, chilling out with their sweet dogs, exploring the area, and visiting with my daughter at college in Flagstaff! Their home is comfortable and clean and Layne is very organized in preparing for exchanges, which I greatly appreciate! Had everything we needed and it was easy to get around and explore the area. There is plenty to do outside locally and lots of good places to eat. I'd love to stay again!
This exchange came together quickly and smoothly while I was off traveling and doing exchanges! Christi left our house spotless and we would be happy to have her return!
We had a wonderful stay at Laura’s home, from start to finish! All of our communications went smoothly, this was so easy to arrange. The house guide is very clear and complete and had everything we needed. We got to take care of Luna, the dog, for a couple of days and that was really fun and she’s so sweet! Laura left a very nice welcome basket for us and that was awesome so we didn’t have to rush out to buy the basics. The house had plenty of room for us and was very clean and conveniently located. We walked everywhere, used buses some of the time. We loved all the pictures of Laura’s family and the love of family was reflected in every room. It was so easy to get around Oxford and the area. Jericho was a wonderful area to be located close to, with all its little shops and restaurants and cafes—so many places, four days wasn’t enough time to try everything! Laura was super quick to respond to every message, really appreciated that and we will never forget our stay in Oxford.
Martina and I had an exchange all arranged in 2020, but Covid-19 and other challenges prevented it from happening! Martina and I kept in touch frequently and we met for drinks in Italy last year. And finally she and her son and friends were able to come to Bend! We got this worked out quickly, communication before and during the exchange was excellent in all ways. Marta is really an exceptional person and perfect exchanger in every way and she is always welcome to return and one of these days I'll get over to Italy again and spend some time in one of her houses there!
Eileen and Mike were great guests! Communication was a breeze from the time of our initial contact all the way through to the conclusion of their stay at our home. They left our house immaculate and were just the nicest people to hav win our home! They would be welcome back anytime.
Johanna and her family were wonderful guests, left our house in perfect condition! They were good communicators and we are really looking forward to going to their home in the future!
Absolutely, you are very welcome!
