General overview
We are looking for NYC March 24-30. 2025 and can offer a Globe. Due to illness of one of our cats, we have a cat sitter staying in the house so cannot offer a reciprocal exchange.
Looking ahead, we have a 4-5 week trip to Europe coming up in July and August. We have finalized an exchange in Dublin that ends July 19th, from there we can go to either London or Copenhagen for a week (preferably London) and then go to the other city for a week, then finish up with a week in/near Edinburgh, approximately August 1-8.
WE HAVE PETS!
The space
Welcome to our beautiful, comfortable, and spacious Craftsman style home with lots of wood paneling and flooring throughout the house, and many details that make it comfortable and memorable. Bend is an amazing place to visit and we would be happy to help you with any needs during your stay!
You'll step right into a gorgeous living room with fireplace, and a library with a two-story bookcase with a ladder. Past the library, there are 2 bedrooms, one is a master suite with queen bed and en suite bathroom and the other has a queen bed, and there's a bathroom just outside its door. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a twin bed, and a full bathroom. The TV room is also upstairs and there is a twin bed in that room. The kitchen is large and modern. Just past the dining area is a sunroom full of windows. Beyond the kitchen is a 600 sf bonus room/apartment with a wet bar and bathroom, large TV, fireplace, sofa, and an exercise area. And then there's also a garage and yard, chicken coop, and trampoline!
We prefer visitors who can take care of our outdoor chickens. And we would be very happy to take care of your pets!
There are exterior cameras at all doors.
Since we live in a quiet family neighborhood with neighbors and friends all around us, our home is not available for family groups, gatherings, reunions, or anything of that nature, and only approved guests may be in our home or property. Exceptions can be made depending on your experience in both hosting more than one family group and in bringing extra people with you.
Guest access
Two-story house, access through front door or garage in back.
Notes
We have done over 60 exchanges on two platforms in the last 7 years and are believers in the sharing ethos! We have "met" many wonderful people through exchanging and traveling is an important part of our lives. As former homeschoolers, we seek out opportunities to go to a variety of places and get exposure to different cultures. Because my children are now in school, we are constrained by the school calendar.
WE HAVE OUTDOOR CHICKENS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF! Exterior cameras at entrances.

Getting around
You can walk from our home to many restaurants, bakeries, cafes, coffee shops, and pubs! Safeway is a mile away, the ice rink also a mile, downtown Bend is less than a mile. Uber and Lyft both operate in town and there is a bus system that stops a few blocks away. There is an inexpensive shuttle to Mt. Bachelor a mile away.

Pat's house is the perfect place to explore Bend. Central but very calm. It's a big house, so you can visit with friends (like we did) or family. Kids loved the house: there is a trampoline, cickens , a huge TV room and even a hidden closet ! Bend is a great destination if you like the outdoors. You can float down the river (Pat has flooties!) , you can find beautiful hikes, lakes to swim, waterfalls to jump down the cliffs. And if you like foodtrucks and beers, Bend is the place to be! Pat is the kindest host, always ready to help and it's very easy to communicate with her. Very recommended exhange and destination!
Pat's home was the perfect spot for my husband and I plus she was so accommodating...even leaving for her other home to work with our dates. She has a wonderful welcome book with recommendations, and was readily available with questions about where to eat and what to do.

Martina and I had an exchange all arranged in 2020, but Covid-19 and other challenges prevented it from happening! Martina and I kept in touch frequently and we met for drinks in Italy last year. And finally she and her son and friends were able to come to Bend! We got this worked out quickly, communication before and during the exchange was excellent in all ways. Marta is really an exceptional person and perfect exchanger in every way and she is always welcome to return and one of these days I'll get over to Italy again and spend some time in one of her houses there!
Eileen and Mike were great guests! Communication was a breeze from the time of our initial contact all the way through to the conclusion of their stay at our home. They left our house immaculate and were just the nicest people to hav win our home! They would be welcome back anytime.
Johanna and her family were wonderful guests, left our house in perfect condition! They were good communicators and we are really looking forward to going to their home in the future!
