Neighbourhood

About a three-mile long old-school beach neighborhood with nine public ocean accesses. Four world class resort are fairly close. Mauna Kea and Westin Mauna Kea (previously Hapuna Prince) to the north. Fairmont Orchid, and Mauna Lani Auberge to the south. Good walking, and a very small general store/dive shop about 1/4 mile away. Puako is a great bike, swim, walk neighborhood.

Nearest airport

KOA (Kailua-Kona) about 30 minutes away. Or ITO (Hilo) about 2 hours away.

Getting around

You'll want your own car, unless you load up on groceries and stay around here -- which is possible, it's just that most people like to explore a bit. We do have a wonderful volcano and national park after all. That's about 2 1/2 hours drive from us.

People Like Us Local Guide

Depending on Covid rules (getting better all the time) might be able to take you with us to Kawaihae Canoe Club as a guest for an outrigger paddle in the early morning.
