Praten over Schotland is praten over landschappen.

Place description (target length = 300-800 words)

To talk about Scotland is to talk about landscapes. Of those that we could not imagine even in the best movies. Whether you are only in the city for a day or you can travel around this country, you will come back completely fascinated and captivated by its environment.

These lands are formed, among many other things, by valleys full of magic, deep and mysterious lakes, romantic pictures of castles in ruins, mountains covered with snow in winter and heather the rest of the year, cities full of history and that give us a very interesting urban landscape, towns with cottages (cottages) and gardens that seem taken from a fairy tale.

Behind the landscape hides the hand of man, and above all, with the constructions that forge the history of this land, along with lakes and mountains. Wherever you are, you will not be far from a fortress, restored or in ruins, open to the public or abandoned for centuries.

Eilean Donan, Edinburgh, Dunnottar, Stirling or Urquhart are some of the most visited castles, but they are just a few names among hundreds of buildings (once thousands), each with a fascinating, tortuous, romantic or disturbing story behind them.

The big cities are captivating, but it is when strolling through villages like Culross, Kirriemuir, Crail, Luss or Tarbert that you begin to taste the most scenic Scotland, the one that seems anchored in time. Those picturesque villages with narrow streets and flowers on the stone steps, where sometimes you do not meet a soul even if you walk from one end to the other, but where there is almost always a pub or a fish & chips store where inside you can hear the murmur of the neighbors.

Of course, getting a glimpse of Scottish culture comes at a price. But People Like Us is here to make your trip to Scotland easier on your wallet. Instead of booking hotels for a week, consider swapping homes with another member of our home exchange community. You may end up staying in a cozy apartment in Edinburgh or a beautiful cottage in a charming village. Sign up today. Then start looking for homes and chatting with our friendly members from Scotland.
