General overview
Apartment is located in the Red Sea resort, 20 minutes drive south of Aqaba. It is gated community with beach, several pools and beach club, restaurants, liquor stores, few shops, market, ATM, pharmacy. https://talabay.net/
There are many things you can do around. Red Sea is famous diving and snorkeling spot for it's coral reef. You can try diving or do the regular PADI courses in the compound. We have snorkeling gear for you. Kite surfing is also available at the Beach club. There are several great spots nearby for snorkeling.
*From here it's possible to have a day trip to Petra, one of the 7 wonders of the world. About 2 hrs away.
*Wadi Rum is about 1 hr drive away. You can go for a sunset jeep tour and dinner or stay overnight in one of many camps and enjoy the night sky in the desert and sunrise camel ride.
*Dead sea is 1:45 minutes ride.
* Dead sea area has several Wadis (canyons) which are great for hiking through the water. Wadi Mujib is the biggest and most famous with age limit. There are others suitable for families.
*Baptism site on river Jordan about 4 hours.
*It is less than 4 hours drive from Amman, capital of Jordan.
The space
It is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms apartment with 2 balconies and laundry room.
Master bedroom has 2x140cm bed and ensuite bathroom with shower.
Second bedroom with 2x120cm bed.
Small bedroom with balcony has bunk bed (2x90cm).
There are no beds in play room. When we need more sleeping space, we put there tall inflatable 160cm bed or 2 pull out beds from other room (90cm).
All rooms have AC. Main balcony and rooms have also a ceiling fan.
Have in mind this is not a holiday rental but long term rented furnished apartment which means it's as it is, we didn't decorate it and has some faults. Do not expect luxury. At the same time, it's clean, very spacious and functional with all you might need for comfortable beach stay.
There is a french press, standing mixer, waffle machine, dishwasher, water cooler, soda stream, bbq, washer, wifi, TV, toys and board games, bicycles...
Apartment is well positioned - at the pool, steps from the beach, market and restaurants. It's well oriented to stay cooler during the hot summer days.
Aqaba is in the desert and there is a lot of dust everywhere. We like to keep our home clean as much as possible considering we have 3 smallish children going out and in from the beach or pool many times a day. Therefore we have some rules like no shoes inside and make sure everything is clean and dry before you enter the apartment. There is a shower right next to the terrace, at the pool and floor mat for the terrace. There is a shoe cabinet at the entrance and on the terrace.
Please do the same and keep the nets closed. Mosquito season is in winter, but flies are annoying for the rest of the year. Especially when it's hot outside.
We have our cleaner that can come for cleaning and laundry. It's to be discussed.
Guest access
Main entrance is from the street side with a parking space and across the street is the beach with sunbeds and umbrellas.
It is ground floor apartment with only few stairs and balconies have direct access to the biggest swimming pool in the resort (they say in region). Sunbeds and showers are available for use at the pools and we have beach towels.
All facilities are free to use for residents.
We have beach/pool towels, ice box, floaters, toys...
Tala Bay is gated community 24/7 and we have to announce our guests and leave copy of their IDs.
Notes
We are taking care of outdoor cats from our neighborhood. They are not allowed inside, though some of them are persistent in trying to get in.
We'll kindly ask you to feed them outside. Some of them might sleep on the terrace, some are wild and will be hiding away. One of our neighbors usually feeds them while we are away, but great if you can do it.
We are animal friendly and would love to take care of your cat, chickens or other animals. I don't have any experience with dogs and can't accept that responsibility.
We are happy to host you if it's a good time for us. Our boys would be happy to join our bed and share their 2 bedrooms.

Neighbourhood
Tala Bay is gated community on the beach with pools, restaurants, bars, few shops, liquor store, ATM, pharmacy, diving and kite clubs and touristic offices. Small market has almost everything except fresh meat and variety of fruits and veggies. That is available in stores in Aqaba.
It's relaxing and mostly quiet place. You can enjoy it and use as a base for visiting Petra and Wadi Rum.
Aqaba and Jordan are very friendly and safe. People are kind and welcoming.
Getting to my home
Car rental or taxi are ways to reach the apartment. No public transportation in the city.
For hospitality stay, one of us would come to pick you up from the airport.
Nearest airport
King Hussein International airport, Aqaba is 28 km away. Royal Jordanian is flying to Aqaba from Amman (Jordan), Turkish airlines from Istanbul. Seasonally, Ryan, Easy and Wizz are flying to Aqaba, and year around to Amman.
Queen Alia International airport Amman is 320km (3.5- 4hrs) from our home.
Getting around
Public transportation in Aqaba is not operating. Car rental or taxi are the only way to move around. It takes cca 20 minutes to downtown and 10 JD for taxi.
I am happy to share contact of reliable taxi drivers.
There are local buses to other cities and sites like Petra.
It is a common thing to rent a car with driver for tourists, but self driving in Jordan is easy.

We are expatriate family from Serbia and Croatia. We have been living in several countries around the world and our children were born in different places. We never did home exchange before but me and my husband met while couchsurfing years ago. We are still active in hosting travelers in our home, where ever it is, and sharing experiences. We have our apartment in Aqaba and coastal home in Croatia (which is in process of renovating and for a while not available). We are experienced travelers and world explorers that appreciate getting to know local community, nature and local food and wine. We are spontaneous family looking for new adventures and prone to last minute traveling. I might work to change that as it doesn't work for now on PLU.
The whole family enjoys hosting as it gives us possibility to share more than just a home. We did plenty on different platforms.
