We're only 7 km from Poreč's vibrant old town and beaches, and perfectly situated for exploring the rich history of continental Istria. The house itself is a part of a 17th-century stone "Kastel" (castle) that once belonged to the Filipini family. This charming home was our own before we began our journey abroad.

Neighbourhood

Nestled in the quiet village of Filipini, our home offers a peaceful escape just 7 km from the busy old town and beaches of Poreč. While the atmosphere is secluded, you're conveniently close to all the action. A car is essential for exploring the area, and a nearby "Plodine" market is a huge advantage during the busy summer season, letting you easily avoid the crowds and traffic. The house sits directly on a bicycle trail, making it a perfect base for exploring. From here, you can easily discover famous Istrian towns like Rovinj, Pula, and Motovun, or visit the spectacular Brijuni islands. In Poreč, be sure to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Euphrasian Basilica. The region is also a paradise for foodies, with excellent opportunities for wine, truffle, and olive oil tours and delicious local cuisine at charming konobas (taverns). For a change of scenery, you can also easily take day trips to Slovenia and Italy. Ljubljana is about a two-hour drive, the famous Postojna Cave is just 90 minutes away, and Piran is only an hour. You can reach Trieste in an hour, Venice by ferry from Poreč or in about 2.5 hours by car, and Verona and Lake Garda in about 3.5 hours. The Dolomites are also just a three-hour drive away.

Jelena

We are expatriate family from Serbia and Croatia. We have been living in several countries around the world and our children were born in different places. We never did home exchange before but me and my husband met while couchsurfing years ago. We are still active in hosting travelers in our home, where ever it is, and sharing experiences. We have our apartment in Aqaba and coastal home in Croatia (which is in process of renovating and for a while not available). We are experienced travelers and world explorers that appreciate getting to know local community, nature and local food and wine. We are spontaneous family looking for new adventures and prone to last minute traveling. I might work to change that as it doesn't work for now on PLU. The whole family enjoys hosting as it gives us possibility to share more than just a home. We did plenty on different platforms.
