General overview

The house was built in 1946 and has charming coved ceilings and beautiful oak hardwood floors. It sits on over a 1/3 acre with a very private back garden and large deck with BBQ and comfortable seating for guests. There is a private light-filled gym, a garage and play cottage all located on the large property.

The space

The master bedroom upstairs has a supportive queen-size bed and plenty of space for your things. The bathroom was recently remodeled so is modern and functional. The house is filled with light from every room and the new windows (installed in 2020) have screens to let the fresh air in. The main sitting room is large with a gas fireplace and 58" screen TV with Soundbar for enjoying movies. There is a separate sitting room with reclining leather chair and 40" TV. The renovated kitchen/breakfast area is where we spend a lot of our time as it looks over the gorgeous back garden and is a joy to cook in with a glass ceramic stove top, quartz counters and a quiet dishwasher. Adjacent is a formal dining room with small intimate deck for morning coffee. Downstairs there is the large second bedroom with updated bathroom and kitchen/sitting area. The separate laundry room has a new washer and dryer with a large sink for handwashing. There is also a washing line for drying your clothes outside. The gym on the property is equipped with an elliptical machine, treadmill and a bench with free weights. The gym also has a large Smart TV connected to the internet. The house and garden has everything to make your stay relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. Please note: we take our shoes off upon entering our home and no pets are allowed.

Neighbourhood

Our home is nestled in an established neighbourhood with large lots within a picturesque Garry Oak meadow. The home is walking distance to shops, the University of Victoria, Cedar Hill Golf Course and Mt. Doug Park and trails. Also, access to the Galloping Goose regional biking/walking trail is nearby. Downtown Victoria is a 10 minute drive away and lots of parks, lakes, ocean and nature are only a half hour`s drive away. In 2020, Vancouver Island was ranked #2 in the top 5 islands of North America and Victoria ranked #8 in the top small cities of the world (global travelers voting Conde Nast Traveler) If you`re interested in the outdoors and enjoy a large enough city with all the amenities and interest, then Victoria and Vancouver Island will not disappoint.

I am a retired fundraiser who worked in post-secondary education and my husband is semi-retired from his own sport architectural firm. We love to discover new places and are keen to exchange in the UK, Europe and beyond. Our second home is located in magical Loreto in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
