Neighbourhood

We live in a low-traffic street in quiet a neighborhood where children can even play on the streets. There are multiple playgrounds within walking distance. Ou house is within walking distance of the historic city center of the beautiful picturesque IJsselstein. IJsselstein has it all. A magnificent mill still in operation, canals, shopping streets and restaurants. IJsselstein is centrally located close to major highways and there is a tram and bus stop within walking distance of our house. On a hot summer day you can visit one of the small beaches on the banks of the rivers IJssel and Lek. If you prefer the North Sea coast, the beaches of Noordwijk and Scheveningen can be reached within an hour.

For all international flights: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (35 min by car, 1h10min by public transport) For low budget flights within Europe: Rotterdam The Hague Airport (46 min by car) Eindhoven airport (48 min by car)

Getting around

The town center and two different supermarkets can all be reached within a 10 minute walk. IJsselstein is located between the highways A2 and A12 from which you can travel to all of the Netherlands. The bus and tram stop to travel directly to Utrecht Central Station or Rotterdam are only 500 meters from our house. From Utrecht you can reach the rest of the country by train.

Kim & Tim

Tim has a cat allergy, so unfortunately an exchange is not possible if you have cats. We do have a pet Syrian hamster that requires fresh water and food every other day. If you ever need to be away for a couple of days, we can coordinate with our neighbors to ensure our pet is cared for. As for our family, we are a couple in our forties with a delightful daughter named Amélie, born in 2014. Kim pursues a career as a software developer at the Dutch national police, while Tim works as a mechanical engineer in the chip industry. Kim originally hails from Belgium and made the transition to the Netherlands in her twenties. Amélie is wonderfully well-behaved, adaptable, and accustomed to travel. So, even if you don't have dedicated children's spaces or an abundance of toys, she will surely enjoy her time with us. We have a passion for travel and relish the opportunity to meet new people. Exploring new destinations is always an exciting prospect for us. Even if your location isn't explicitly mentioned in our preferred destinations, if you’re interested in visiting this part of the Netherlands we hope you’ll ask. Additionally, we are active on another home exchange platform. Our availability for travel aligns with Dutch school holidays. However, we are also open to the occasional weekend swap closer to home, within a maximum three-hour drive.
