Our home in the small village of Anmore British Columbia sits on a 1 acre lot, perched on a mountainside and backing on to forest. You'll love the peaceful views and natural surroundings. There are 5+ bedrooms with a variety of indoor and outdoor living spaces.
Our lower level is a self-contained suite and may be available separately from the main house -- have a look at its PLU listing at https://peoplelikeus.world/en/properties/10622
The space
Our property is a full acre, surrounded by gardens and forest. Kids will love to explore and will soon find special features such as a zip line, trampoline, rock walls, and more. We have a swim spa and hot tub that overlook the valley below - perfect for relaxing after a long day, no matter what the weather. The home itself is large, open, and bright. The main floor includes a kitchen, dining area, living room, lounge/library, office, powder room, and has a large deck outside. Upstairs features a master bedroom with spacious ensuite and a private deck with amazing views, plus two smaller bedrooms, laundry room, two additional bathrooms, and a large multi-purpose playroom that could be utilized as another bedroom suite if needed. The basement is bright and open, with a living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one ensuite), a home theatre/media room, and its own kitchen and laundry.

Neighbourhood
Our community is quiet, safe, and surrounded by nature. Assorted wildlife are frequent visitors: don't be surprised to see deer, bear, countless bird species, frogs, rabbits and more nearby. Access to several trails is just steps away. Two lakes are within a few minutes' drive or a short hike and are some of the Vancouver area's most popular destinations for locals and visitors alike. The oceanfront is also just a few minutes away, with your choice of several parks and beaches. If you enjoy walks, bike riding, canoeing, or other outdoor activities you will find plenty of variety here.
Getting to my home
By car, our area is about 15 minutes north of Port Moody -- either along the scenic oceanfront Ioco Road or up the mountainside via Heritage Mountain Boulevard. By transit, just catch the SkyTrain to Port Moody Centre Station and then take a community bus to Anmore. A bus stop is located at the bottom of the hill leading to our home - about a 10 to 15 minute walk up a fairly steep road.
Nearest airport
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is approximately 1 hour away. Abbottsford International Airport (YXX) is also about 1 hour away.
Getting around
Various restaurants, shops, microbreweries, and other attractions are within 15 minutes' drive. Downtown Vancouver is about 45 minutes away: drive or take the rapid transit SkyTrain with ease. We are willing to exchange our vehicle during some home exchanges.

Bryan and Julie
We are a family of four with two children aged 11 and 14. We love to travel and love to host other families in our home. Both adults are self employed, so we can often be quite flexible in our plans. We have a large home that includes a full secondary suite, which can be available to people we exchange with even when we're still at home.
We regularly travel to the UK (especially in the summer) but are always open to other destinations.
"We are thinking of visiting Europe in Summer 2025, via Dublin, and would love to tour around Ireland at the start or end of our trip."

People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Kitchen and dining area. The kitchen features a 6-burner stove with griddle, double oven, microwave, dishwasher, oversize fridge, and large double sink. Granite countertops throughout and there's a raised bar area -- perfect for sitting with your morning coffee or to chat while the cook prepares dinner. Through the doorway on the left is a "butler's pantry" with plenty of storage and another countertop with sink.
Main floor living room with gas fireplace. French doors lead to the balcony.
Dining area, as seen from the living room. You can see a hint of our amazing view to the east! (The table is bigger than it looks in this photo!)
Master bedroom ensuite. Double-sided gas fireplace, walk-in shower and separate jetted soaker tub. The tub features a great forest view.
Outdoor living space on the main floor balcony. Gorgeous mountain views!
The TV and video game corner of our large upstairs playroom/recreation room. This is about a quarter of the total space. This room includes a full ensuite bathroom and could be converted into a bedroom if necessary for a large group.
Back corner of our garden. The rock face sits above a small pond and a wood firepit with plenty of seating. The arbor on the left marks the entrance to path that leads down a winding path towards the forest. The small black smudge in the middle is our dog, Kiera, who might accompany us on some exchanges. :-)
Combination hot tub and swim spa. Even in winter, it offers a beautiful view. I can think of worse places to sit on a snowy day.
The hot tub and deck in the summer. Kids' playhouse and storage shed in the background.
A regular visitor to our back lawn. We see deer on most days.
Paddling on nearby Buntzen Lake. Just a few minutes' drive from our home or a fun walk through the forest. Buntzen has large, sandy beaches at both the north and south ends, including an off-leash dog beach on the south side. Excellent hiking trails are all around the lake for various skill levels.
Typical forest in our little village. This was taken on the "Energy Trail" at Buntzen Lake. A nice, easy trail just minutes from our home.
View of downtown Vancouver and harbour. This viewpoint is an easy 7 minute walk from our house. Just cross the back yard straight into the forest and follow the markers. Depending on traffic, you can drive to downtown in about 45 minutes to an hour. Multiple transit options can get you there, too, including the "Westcoast Express" commuter train and SkyTrain rapid transit line.
Floating bridge at Sasamat Lake. A quick drive from our house. Or, if you're feeling more energetic, a straightforward hike will get you there, too. The walk back is all uphill, though! Sasamat is home of the extremely popular White Pine Beach and the walk around the lake is flat and very scenic. Fishing and swimming off of this floating bridge is very popular.
Just one of our views.
Rear of the house. We love the outdoor living spaces accessible from all three levels.
Guest suite kitchen on the lower level.
In one of the bathrooms of the guest suite on the lower level.
Guest suite laundry room. We hate hauling laundry up and down stairs, so when we custom-built our home, we insisted on having two laundry areas. :-)
Guest suite master bedroom, with ensuite bathroom. Even though this is on the lower level, it gets plenty of sunlight and has some wonderful views.
Media room located on the lower level. Giant screen and surround sound! A nice cool, dark retreat on hot summer days, and super cozy in the winter.
Guest suite living area. Gas fireplace, TV, plenty of seating, and a nice big dining area.
Lower level patio and a hint of the mountain view. You can also see the hot tub and swim spa at the back of the photo.
