General Overview

Our family home is in suburbs of Los Angeles, in a nice part of the west valley, with easy access to freeways, and walking distance to fine dining and entertainment. The house is one level, with a grassy front yard, and a private, fully fenced backyard, with a large southeast facing deck.

The Space

The master bedroom has a Cal-king size bed, en-suite bathroom, and French doors opening to the back deck. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, and it is a home office with a very comfortable setup for working remotely; two large desks with monitors, printer, etc. The third bedroom has a full-size bed with a pullout trundle twin size bed. The kitchen has almost everything you need and you can enjoy cooking using everything you'll find including a large variety of spices and herbs. It also has various options for coffee lovers, k-cup, french press, espresso machine, etc. From the kitchen or master bedroom, you have access on the back deck which is our all year long outdoor living space. Large and comfortable, it is a fun place to entertain! It has a comfy day bed, fire pit, jacuzzi, sitting area, TV and bar, an outdoor cooking island with fridge, BBQ, griddle, sink, outdoor heater for the winter cool evenings. During spring -fall we have a large, above ground pool that we fill up; recently, with water restrictions in LA, it is rather difficult to maintain. In the backyard, there is an artificial turf putting green and a half basketball court. We have high speed Wi-Fi internet access through the house and backyard and streaming is used on all TVs. We made our home attractive, and well equipped for modern living and it is our beautiful sanctuary to relax and unwind after a busy day in a large city, that has everything to offer! Based on details and length, we may include a car in the exchange.

The house is one level, with easy 2 steps to the entrance for both front and back door.

We are interested to exchange with anyone who would tempt us with their wonderful home. We are also offering our house for Globe exchange during the dates house is available. We are all avid skiers so our dream exchange would be a place in Canada, Colorado or other ski destinations for part of the ski season, while the other family would stay at our place in sunny SoCal. We are dog lovers and our place is pet friendly, with hardwood floors, doggie door, fully fenced backyard, comfy pet beds around the house. Sometimes we will also travel with our Golden Retriever on shorter trips, and looking for dog friendly exchanges, but this is not a "must" requirement. We do not allow smoking in the house, but have nothing against it if you wish to smoke outside on the back deck.

Neighbourhood

This is a rather quiet neighborhood with everything you need within reach. Taking Topanga Canyon south, it is about 15 miles drive to the beach. It is close enough to just go watch the sunset, take a ride on PCH, have dinner in Malibu or a nice picnic at the beach! There is a park in walking distance and nice quiet streets where you could walk your dog without any worries. There is a large doggie park surrounded by hills, trees plenty of shade, about 10 minutes driving distance. There are hiking trails in close proximity and an extensive bike path where you can ride for miles. In less than 5 minutes driving, there are two malls and an outdoor village with cafes, boutiques, shops, restaurants, bars, spa, gym, etc. There are 3 modern theatres, in less than 5 minutes driving, one being in walking distance. Calabasas Commons, with a significant selection of restaurants and entertainment is about 5 miles away! There is a large variety of stores and supermarkets, such as Costco, Trader Joe's (3 stores), Sprouts (2 stores), Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, Ralphs, etc. within walking distance or very short drive. Hollywood, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Burbank, Beverly Hills, with all their attractions are about 30-45 minutes drive. Santa Barbara is one of our favorite destinations and only about one hour drive. If shopping makes you happy, Camarillo Outlets is a huge mall with more than 160 stores within 30 minutes drive. Consider weekend getaways to San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Napa Valley, or day trips to Palm Springs, Paso Robles, Santa Ynez wine country, Hearst Castle, Ojai, Solvang, Big Bear, Sequoia National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, etc.

Getting to my home

From LAX take 405 North and 101 North From BUR take 134 West and 101 North From VNY take Sherman Way heading West

Nearest airport

The international airport and the largest is LAX. The closest and easier to get to, is BUR. If you arrive with a private jet, or a turboprop you can consider VNY or KCMA

Getting Around

There are malls and stores within walking distance, however to get around in the Los Angeles area we recommend to rent a car or, depending on length of stay and circumstances, we may include a car in the exchange. Uber or Lyft are plenty available at all times and there is a bus route with the stop at the corner of the street.
