Neighbourhood

We are under 8 residents here so it is quiet yet in under 5 minutes away you will find shops, coffee and restaurants. All local residents near the house speak exclusively Italian.

Nearest airport

Florence Peretola airport is 37 Km drive by car. Pisa airport is 59 Km drive. Siena is 50 Km drive.

Getting Around

We normally do our small shopping in Fiano (1.5 kilometers away) and then larger shopping in Montespertoli, Tavarnelle, or Certaldo which we are each 10 min away. San Casciano is 15 minutes by car and the largest of the surrounding towns. Bus service can be found in Montespertoli or San Casciano.

  • When health complications for our upcoming host meant we needed to find a new home in Tuscany we contacted Support. They suggested several homes that might be available. We reached out to each and within an hour received a positive message from Catherine. Although her home was on the market, she was on her way to the U.S., and she had guests who would be arriving immediately after us, she welcomed us to stay. How fortunate we were! Catherine's home was an ideal location, with views of the Tuscan countryside that often seemed like paintings come to life. Catherine was quick and thorough in her communication, and a kind and considerate host.

  • Thank you to Catherine for the wonderful stay we had in her beautiful home. This one is original and full of charm. Thank you also for all her advice, as well as for all the good addresses (many) she left us in the surrounding area and in Florence (which is a good half an hour's drive away). The place is idyllic and the view of the surroundings breathtaking.

  • This was our first exchange and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful spot. Really lovely place atop a hillside overlooking the Tuscan countryside with a well equipped and large kitchen. We had lots of fun buying local cheeses and fresh-made pasta and preparing daily dinners. We also had a great time doing an activity Catherine suggested - the wine and olive oil tasting with her friend Maria, who we bought some small batch olive oil and wine from. Our other favourite day was spent renting e-bikes and cycling between nearby towns and stopping for gelato.

  • My very first exchange and let me tell you:: I loved it! Catherine´s place is very special: the location, the set up, the interior - all above expectations. Sipping a Prosecco on the porch watching the sunset was out of this world. Chatherine is a great host and makes you feel at home instantly. Looking forward to more PLU exchanges in the future

  • We had such a wonderful time with Catherine at her fabulous home in Lucardo. She is such a wonderful source of information and suggestions about Tuscany. Several days she suggested itineraries for us that we wouldn’t have figured out on our own.. In the afternoons, we sat on her piazza with wine and cheese and absorbed the gorgeous view. She made restaurant suggestions for the area that were so delicious. We are looking forward to Catherine visiting us inSeptember. She is a fantastic host and her elegant and comfortable home was great with incredible views.
