General overview

This home is a stand alone building in a medieval walled town with about 8 permanent residents. It has commanding views of the Tuscan countryside and includes a small garden. Lucardo Alto dates back to before 1100 and is centered in the heart of Tuscany. Only 30 kilometers to Florence, it is centrally located in the Chianti hillside and is reached by personal vehicle. Do not rely on public transport at this location.

The space

The private garden is 5 short steps down from the road level and has a small 2 level terrace with a pergola. Above that is the home with a lowest (street) level of a cantina that we use as a living room with an adjacent bathroom, with your shower. The next floor is the kitchen and dining. On the next floor up, there is my bedroom and my office which is locked during your stay. On this floor is a bathroom, with a shower. The top floor is the master bedroom (for you) with a half bath and tub. Therefore, I suggest 4 people maximum, double occupancy for full exchanges and 2 people for hospitality stays.

Guest access

The home is 4 floors with stairs connecting each level.. A plan of the house can be seen at our website, www.TuscanLucardo.com.

Notes

This home is not an 'accessible' home due to the stairs. Unfortunately we do not welcome pets at this time nor small children due to the stairs and general terrain around the home. You will need your own car to stay at this location. Cars can be rented at the Florence (FLR), Bologna or Pisa airports.

Neighbourhood

We are under 8 residents here so it is quiet yet in under 5 minutes away you will find shops, coffee and restaurants.

Getting to my home

Use your personal car to come to Lucardo Alto and then walk up a short path to the ancient arch and to our home. You can drive to the house to empty the car but the car must be returned to the lot in the piazza near the church a 50 meter walk.

Nearest airport

Florence Peretola airport is 37 Km drive by car. Pisa airport is 59 Km drive. Siena is 50 Km drive.

Getting around

We normally do our small shopping in Fiano (1.5 kilometers away) and then larger shopping in Montespertoli, Tavarnelle, or Certaldo which we are each 10 min away. San Casciano is 15 minutes by car and the largest of the surrounding towns. Bus service can be found in Montespertoli or San Casciano.
