General overview
What can I say about Florence? Cradle of art, culture and beauty, cradle of the Italian Renaissance, destination for millions of tourists every year.
And thanks to its central location, Florence could also be the starting point for day trips to other famous Tuscan cities such as Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo Siena, Cinque Terre.
using the high-speed railway line, even Rome - 1.30 hour journey - or Venice - 2 hours - are possible destinations.
Our apartment is close to the historic centre, reachable by public transport in 10 minutes (frequency 4 minutes). The train station is also 10 minutes away.
It is also possible to reach it on foot with a pleasant walk of about 30 minutes.
We recommend our house to those who want to visit the beauties of the historic center of Florence but also stroll around the other wonderful places in Tuscany (Lucca, Siena, Pisa, Chianti...) by car,
The space
Our house is a small but comfortable apartment of about 50 m2 on the ground floor of a building with 10 other families, owned by our family since 1953, completely renovated in 2015.
Our daughter lives in the apartment opposite and is available in case of need.
The apartment consists of a living room with a fully equipped kitchenette, a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with shower. In the living room there is a double sofa bed that is always ready and can be used in a few moments.
All rooms are air conditioned.
High speed WiFi.
Simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchange depending on the period. It is also possible to swap the car.

Neighbourhood
The neighborhood is a typical Italian neighborhood, where the Florentines live and work.
The apartment is located in one of the most important districts of the metropolitan city of Florence, the Rifredi district. Here is the main hospital of Florence, Careggi, three university poles of medical, scientific and political disciplines, the open-air shopping center "Piazza Dalmazia", supermarket, banks, etc.; but also the rolling hills where it is possible to visit the Medici country villas or eat in one of the many restaurants located in the small villages facing Florence; or the Stibbert museum, with one of the most important collections of ancient armor in the world.
In addition to the classic tourist tours, you will be able to experience the real life of the Florentines.
Parking is not easy in our area but a short distance away there is a paid car park with very cheap rates.
Getting to my home
You can arrive at the Florence airport. Tramway line T2, from the airport to the city centre, change at the Santa Maria Novella railway station and from here line T1 in the direction of Careggi, up to the house. about 25 minutes journey.
If you arrive at a major airport (Rome or Milan) you can take the train to Florence (1.15 min high-speed train from Rome, 1.30 from Milan) and from the Florence railway station take the Tramway line T1 towards Careggi, 5 stops , 10 mins.
By car, take the Firenze Nord exit, follow the Careggi Hospital signs

Getting around
The apartment is strategically located close to the historic center of Florence which can be reached with the new tramway/TramWay public transport system, starting from the "Pisacane" stop, 200 meters from the apartment and arriving at Santa Maria Novella in the city center with 5 stops and a 9 minute ride.
In the northern part of the city, it can be easily reached from the airport (by taxi or public transport), from the A1 motorway by car, or from the Santa Maria Novella railway station with the TramWay line 1 frequency 4 min from 5 to 0.30 ( 2.30 on public holidays).
