A sunny rooftop apartment in Sendling, south Munich, with an east and a south balcony, so it gets sun all day long. It has a bedroom, a living room, an office, a home gym, a full bathroom and a separate guest toilet.
It’s a relaxed, local neighbourhood with a bus stop right outside and the U3 about 12 minutes’ walk away, and the centre, the Isar and the Alps are all easy to reach.
The Space
The apartment is on the top floor of a three-storey building, with lots of natural light and two balconies: the east one for morning coffee, the south one for long afternoons.
The bedroom has a queen-sized bed (1,60m) and a large cupboard for clothes.
The living room is a calm space to read and relax and a couch, which can also be slept on.
The home gym has everything you need for a proper workout without leaving the house: kettlebells, free weights, a pull-up bar, a dip station, a jump rope and a stationary bike. For work there are three desks and two extra monitors, so you can both work comfortably at the same time.
We moved in recently and are still finishing the place. Bella’s father is a carpenter and is building our living room shelf and TV stand by hand, so a couple of pieces are still on their way.
Guest Access
You’ll have the whole apartment to yourselves, including both balconies, the gym and the office. We’ll clear wardrobe and shelf space for your things.
Notes
- Like most German buildings, ours has quiet hours from 10 pm to 6 am.
- Munich separates its rubbish (paper, residual waste, and glass in street containers). We’ll leave a short guide.
- We’ll leave a list of our favourite cafés, bakeries and walks.

Neighbourhood
Sendling is a leafy residential part of Munich, mostly locals rather than tourists. The Westpark, with its lake and Japanese and Chinese gardens, is a short walk away, and Harras, with its shops, cafés and market, is a short bus ride. The Isar river is a short bike ride away: in summer, locals swim and barbecue on the gravel banks at the Flaucher. Munich’s zoo, Tierpark Hellabrunn, is close by too.
Getting to my home
From Munich Hauptbahnhof, take the U1 or U2 to Sendlinger Tor, then the U3 towards Fürstenried West to Aidenbachstraße. From there it’s about a 12-minute walk, or a short bus ride to Höglwörther Straße, right outside our door.
Nearest airport
Munich Airport (MUC). It’s about an hour by public transport: S1 or S8 to Marienplatz, then the U3 to Aidenbachstraße. A taxi takes around 40–45 minutes.
Getting Around
Munich’s public transport is excellent. There’s a bus stop right outside (Höglwörther Straße), and Aidenbachstraße (U3) is about 12 minutes on foot, with Marienplatz around 15 minutes from there. Partnachplatz (U6) and Mittersendling (S7) are both about 15 minutes’ walk. The city is very bike-friendly, and you can rent MVG bikes nearby. For longer stays, the Deutschlandticket covers all local and regional transport for a month (it costs around 60 Euros). Day trips to the Alps and the lakes (Tegernsee, Starnberger See, Kochelsee) are easy by train.

Nicolay
Hi, we’re Nico & Bella from Munich!
We both grew up in southern Bavaria, close to the Alps, so we’re happiest outdoors in the mountains or by a lake. We love exploring cities just as much. Nico is a software engineer who works remotely, so we travel a lot, both for work and for fun. In the past year we’ve been to San Francisco, New York, London, Rome, Copenhagen and Lake Garda, among other places, and this December we’re in Australia.
Bella used to work as a medical assistant and is now in the final year of her health management degree. We’re both coffee and tea nuts and big fantasy readers. Right now Nico is working through Red Rising and Bella is rereading Harry Potter (again).
We recently moved into a bright rooftop flat in Sendling, a residential neighbourhood in the south of Munich, close to the centre. It has:
- lots of natural light and two balconies
- two bathrooms, so no queueing when you’re both in a rush
- a fully equipped home gym (minus a squat rack)
- an office, which is handy if you work remotely too
Munich is a great base for both city and outdoor trips: the Alps and the lakes are about an hour away.
We’re open to all kinds of exchanges, simultaneous and non-simultaneous. We’ve done exchanges through HomeExchange and Kindred, and we’ve been hosted in several non-reciprocal stays, so we’re keen to give back. Our flat is often empty and our family lives nearby, so we’re very flexible with dates.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
